The Unenlightenment Of Quebec

The mass mandatory mask movement hysteria reached Quebec.

Another concern I have is the foolish buffoons in the media now spinning the mental health sagging that sure to sweep as being the fault of Covid-19.

No, it isn't. Covid-19 isn't doing anything. It's our reaction to it that's causing mayhem. Covid-19 didn't put a gun to the heads of mid-witted politicians and tell them to lockdown. That was politicians choosing to do that to cover their asses and masks are also another way to keep covering their asses.

That's this is about. Protecting the careers of politicians and public health officials whose arrogance and lack of humility has shocked me.

The province was on a good path prior to this following the actual evidence-based reality of its limitations and potential harms.

Then it reversed course and joined the suppression theory, or if you prefer, the application (misapplication I contend) of the precautionary principle.

On a basic logical level, I don't see how this will work. I don't know what the percentage is of people wearing medical masks to cloth (and the one made of masks that are effective are almost non-existent) is but there's enough of them. To me, that's like not wearing a mask.

We know those masks were never ever meant to deal with viruses. Hospital worker know this. They don't block them in or out. So if you accept the specious premise of asymptomatic people should wear them as a courtesy, it's really just superstition. If a person sneezes in it (aside from the danger of reinhaling), the virus particles escape.

So let's say 25% to 30% of the population is wearing medical masks, you actually have 70%-75% people wearing the cloth mask.

Ok. Cloth masks have shown to perhaps have some effect. One figure that keeps going around according to studies that encourage masks is it can help cut the spread of the virus by 30% provided 80% and over compliance is met.

There are a lot of factors that have to fall into line, including proper handling (which won't happen but for a tiny percentage of people and they're likely to be a combination of people with OCD and hyper-fear of the virus so they will take every precaution possible) in order to have any meaningful impact.

What will likely be achieved is simply further worrying people and social engineering a habit based on a 'shot in the dark'. It doesn't impress me that Legault pulled the 'yeh but other countries do it too!' card. And who cares anyway?

And what does Quebec know the science doesn't know?

What happens if this doesn't work? Are they prepared for the desperation people may feel? These sense of defeat? This is dangerous stuff. Other than a double-draconian lockdown, what's left to do? Keep locking down indefinitely?

It's all so strangely arbitrary.

I could be wrong but I can't see how this will lower the numbers which are already very low to begin with.

150 cases (note not infections just plain cases) and a couple of deaths (which we know are manipulated) in a population of 8.4 million would be considered statistically insignificant under normal and more sane circumstances.

The virus is out there. It's a reality. Leaders must stop pretending they can manage the virus. They can't. And they must resist immediately of managing the psychology of people.

The best way forward is to ween them off their fears.

But this would take true enlightened leadership.

I'm not confident we will get this.

Sweden is still winning. By now, if officials aren't considering the case of Sweden, we pay a heavy price.

While we waste an enormous amount of energy fiddling around with masks.
