Canada: Land Of Monopolies And Why The Internet Will Win

I've ranted about the lack of competition in Canada's telecom and television industries choosing instead to hoist monopolies on its apathetic client base.

Nothing angers me more than companies "obligating" me to take database on phones packages or channels in pre-determined packages set by the CRTC and its corporate cronies.

And nothing annoys me more when they force you into situations you don't want to be in because the execs want to carve and maintain their little pieces of monoplized pies.

That's why the Internet is important. Customers can tailor their needs as opposed to be told what they should have. For example, Videotron compels me in a 30 channel package to take several channels I don't watch. I should be able to choose my 30 channels. Not what the CRTC thinks I should have in the name of "unity" or Cancon.

We think we're so smart and I don't get how Canadians who actually defend this crap.

It's crucial cronies and government officials that pander to them don't come anywhere near the Internet.

Fin rant.
