Don't Feel Bad For Roman Polanski

The story surrounding Roman Polanski annoys me. Here's a creep who committed a vicious crime 30 years ago, plead guilty, escaped, never served jail time and now the Europeans are trying to make the American look like the bad guys?

Don't let the "it's been 30 years" bit fool you.

Extradite and make him face justice.

I can't believe this is even an issue.

  1. It shouldn't be an issue.

Polanski's crime of statutory rape may have resolved itself as a victimless crime by now with his undisclosed settlement with Samantha Geimer. But his crime of flight to evade justice has not been resolved. And it cannot be resolved until such time as he is remanded into custody of the same court from which he has been a fugitive for three decades.

  3. Well, I'm not totally convinced, but I more or less agree with both.

  4. What has not convinced you, MOR?

Time may heal, but justice is another matter.

  5. A horrible crime is a horrible crime. Period. And a good film director cannot be above the law. Plus I know film milieus well, they are very corrupted as far as morals. This is why Polanski's cirle tends to condone him.

My doubts only regard the 30 years elapsed, the fact that the woman has pardoned Polanski, and the fact that the judge has been reported to be very biased and eager to become famous because of this trial, which seems to be the thing that convinced Polanski to flee abroad.

Thus said, I think he should face justice in the US. One cannot rape a minor and flee justice like that.
