India Key To Future Balance Of Power Realpolitik

While the Western world clumsily clamours around China in hopes of befriending the new power on the block, they may be overlooking two other countries: India and Brazil.

Realistically speaking, there's so much mileage we'll get out of China. The notion we can change China gradually is probably far off - if not unrealistic. Instead of focusing on China at the expense of all nations, it may be more pragmatic to secure good relations with India - a gigantic democracy - and Brazil and emerging economy endowed with natural resources. That alliance makes more sense to me.

Obama in particular should be thinking along these lines especially after the licking he got in Copenhagen when those countries ganged up on him by flexing their muscles and essentially spanking him.

Prime Minister Harper, for his part, after the way Canada was made the scapegoat at that pointless showcase in stupidity, should also draw this country in close relations with India.
