More Scandals In Hollywood

I've been hearing about sexploitation of minors in Hollywood for years. Maybe it's time society looks into this.

Too many creeps with power (like Woody Allen for example) are exploiting young people sexually.

That must be one ugly, disturbing place that Hollywood.

I visited years ago but was too stupid to understand anything.

Coercion And Progressivism Go Hand In Hand

"The Hobby Lobby case pits the religious freedom of abusiness that employs 13,000 people against the rights of itsfemale workers to comprehensive preventive care. The idea that suchcare should include coverage for birth control comes first fromCongress, which mandated preventive coverage when it passed theAffordable Care Act. And it comes from the Institute of Medicine, which has plenty of research to cite showing the health benefits ofaverting unintended pregnancy. The first question about this caseis whether a business has religious rights..."

Ah.

Because the government and research says so then business must comply. Worse, she seems oblivious to the fact that owners and businesses are separate entities.

If I own a business (which I do) and the government compels me to give free contraceptives whether I have a right to opt out if I disagree (which I do. I don't believe I should pay for someone's fucking contraception. Get your own and I really don't give a shit what progressive studies show. It's my right to opt out).

Her position amounts to nothing more than coercion. And this is the common position of the left.

In any event, from what I understand Hobby Lobby takes issue with one specific item in Obamacare as they seem to be okay with the rest. Yet, the left still goes all emotional.

Another way to look at it from their perspective if someone doesn't buy you lunch or dinner, they are violating your human rights because you end up being starved. Or, if you don't lend them money, they end up being poor.

This is how they seem to fricken think

They're not for liberty.

They're for tyranny.

Simple as that.

Baffling Brits Set To Copy French

Labour leading in Britain.

It's almost as if they want to be abused.

Winning strategy there.

"He drew a comparison between Mr Miliband's economic policies and the arguments articulated by Mr Obama in 2008, saying both have at their core "the experience of everyday people."

Aren't we all 'everyday' people? Are some people humans some of the time? Of course, rich people can't be everyday people. They're every third day people or whatever usual arbitrary figure they come up with.

What typical left-wing drivel.

Bah, what do you expect? They booted Churchill out after what he did for them in WWII. It took a conservative to knock sense into that country. And when things go right again go with a liberal. Then the cycle repeats.

I jest but no.

Yellowknife Can Assassinate The World If It Wants To

From Vice:

"The Northern Canadian territories often get written off by all of us as a frigid tundra of nothingness. But it’s probably about time we start paying attention to the situation up there. Yellowknife is currently sitting on 237,000 tons of arsenic—enough to kill the entire human population of our planet a few times over...."

Arghhh! Run for the hills!

"However, with a crumbling infrastructure and increasing concern about leakage into the local water supply, the time has come to do something about it. Now that it is 2014 and the Canadian government is older and wiser, they have finally come up with what a reasonable solution to our minor poison problem: They are going to freeze the 237,000 tons of arsenic trioxide underground—for all of eternity.
“How can we ever ensure that human systems are going to continue to keep something that requires rather sophisticated engineering and monitoring to function forever, that’s just crazy,” argues Kevin O’Reilly, an activist with Northern Alternatives. “We can’t even remember how the pyramids were built 5,000 years ago. How can we know that 5,000 years from now, if there are even people on this planet, that they are going to know what to do to keep this stuff frozen? That’s just irresponsible.”

Know what's irresponsible? Not grasping history and trying to draw analogies from it.

That we've become far, far, far more sophisticated in our communications and language skills as compared to past civilizations means nothing to this guy. It's as if he thinks we still possess the same mindset as the Egyptians and never evolved from that point. I wouldn't worry about it too much as we can leave behind a 'know-how' manual I'm pretty sure.

Total deranged these people are.

From the comments:

"And for useless gold of all things. Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with people and their obsession with an almost worthless element such as gold?"

Yeah, it does seem 'irrational' doesn't it? But guess what? It has a perceived value among people and countries. It's a hedge against currency and gold is seen as hard collateral.  Why they settled on gold is not the point. They 'could' have chosen some other metal I suppose but they didn't.

So go ahead and call it useless. It's useless to you. If you want to change it, then propose it and see how you do and get back to me O-kay, Jo-Jo?

It's like the left never grow wise beyond ten years old or something.

America's Contradictions

Being instated as an archangel, Satan made himself multifariously objectionable and was finally expelled from Heaven. Halfway in his descent he paused, bent his head in thought a moment and at last went back. "There is one favor that I should like to ask," said he.
"Name it."
"Man, I understand, is about to be created. He will need laws."
"What, wretch! you his appointed adversary, charged from the dawn of eternity with hatred of his soul -- you ask for the right to make his laws?"
"Pardon; what I have to ask is that he be permitted to make them himself."
It was so ordered.
-- Ambrose Bierce

What I find interesting in the BLM case in Nevada is the fact Bundy is grazing on Federal land, the Federal government owns the majority of land in the Western part of the country,  and that he's engaging in an act of civil disobedience. People will argue the merits of this action until they're purple in the face but let me add one thing. The Feds do a good job of breaking down doors and turning peaceful citizens into criminals applying any of the endless number of laws almost incoherently and in an ad hoc manner. Yet, MILLIONS of driver's licenses are being handed over to ILLEGAL aliens in the United States.

There's something drastically wrong - intellectually, politically and morally - with this picture.

No. It's not the same as being anti-immigrant. It's being fair (a word the government just loves using with no ability to actually execute) to citizens (native and immigrant alike) who have earned their right to have the privilege of having a driver's permit. These are symbols of being part of a community - legally.

Epic Take Down Of Bully: Casey Body Slammer

Mother to that kid in the video who was slammed to the ground.

Your snowflake clearly was the bully.

Good for Casey.

Although he could have hurt that kid worse than he did. Apparently, he broke his knee cap.

The little twirp was lucky.

Bloomberg: Thus Spoke Narcissus

I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in. I have earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close.”

Michael Bloomberg is rivaling Paul Krugman on the insufferable scale. What an arrogant, paternalistic boob.

But I thought money in politics is evil. I mean, Koch is about to take over the universe, right?

Sorry.

As long as $50 million is spent by the 'right' people for the 'right' causes all is good.

Fall Of The West Reason 94595996

They say California is a trailblazing, progressive state. Not from where I sit on Heed History Hill.

In fact, I can't help but consider California as a flaky state completely unhinged on its quest to control, well, things.

Los Angeles science teacher Greg Schiller was suspended by school administrators for "supervising the building, research and development of imitation weapons."

Adding they 'looked dangerous.'

Lotsa shit looks dangerous. My Lord, send those boobs back to school for crying out loud.

The reaction is Medieval stuff. In their quest to be 'progressive' they're actually reactionary.

Apparently, he coaches Fencing. You mean that sport with sabres? Doesn't that look dangerous?

Every fucking day I thank my uncle had the sense to put a side-by-side rifle in my hand when I was 13.

He said, 'every man should know how to be proficient with one.'

In my day - shakes fist - kids climbed rope with no mats, we played sports for keeps and were encouraged to play to win, parents governed their own kids, bullies were challenged and we fought, we listened to Joan Jett and the Black Hearts singing 'I love rock'n roll' in the school yard; none of this Miley Cyrus shit, and did everything with no helmets.

Today, we have a bunch of fucking pussies who have off loaded their responsibilities to a horde of bigger fucking twats.

Criminalization Is Not Always A Rational Choice

First rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club. Second rule of Fight Club is you don't forget the first rule.

First rule of protecting yourself on the Internet is don't post racy pictures of yourself to anyone. Second rule is don't you ever forget that simple act of self-preservation.

Criminalizing revenge porn is as unwise as it is impractical and silly. But that's what you get with top-men and statists, their only solutions to evolving social behaviors is to criminalize it; just like their only suggestion to fix the economy usually begins with more taxes.

Yes. Let's put some 17 year-old jerk-off in jail because some naive girl sent him naughty pictures and he was idiotic enough to post it without her consent. Let's leave her off the hook for being patently stupid though.

Politicians and people who support them just don't learn.

Spanish Town Mulls Over Name Change; No Kidding

You mean to tell me they have lived with this name all these years? Says a lot about where they stand on, you know, racism.

What's the matter with them? Too much paella in the diet?

How does this conversation even begin?

First Man (scratches his head): Manuel I think maybe it's about time we change the name of our town?
Second Man (cutting cheese): Why what's wrong with it, Raul?
Raul: I mean, Kill Jews? Doesn't that strike you as dated?
Manuel: You a Jew lover or something?
Raul: No, no. Don't get me wrong. I think they be foul what, with their smoked meat and bagels. It's just that, it doesn't feel very Christian of us.
Manuel: Fine. Fine. We'll take it to the other 60 families. We'll see what they say. Take it from there. Come. I want to show you something.
Raul: What is it?
Manuel: It's the Running of the Jews. A tradition in Kazakhstan...

From UPI:

"Frankly it doesn't surprise me that there's a village called Kill the Jews, though it's pretty disgusting that it's taken them till now to think it might be a good idea to change it,” a Jewish American living in Spain told the Guardian. “There's a casual racism in Spain that no one here seems to notice but which is quite shocking to an outsider. People say 'he's a bit of a Jew' and stuff like that and no one seems to notice. Plus Spain is in complete denial about its Jewish and Muslim history."

Spain is home to about 12,000 Jews, compared with 290,000 in the U.K. and 478,000 in France."

Roughly 118 000 in Germany and 18 000 in Italy.

Of Taxation In The United States

Love the name of this site: America's independent, non-partisan advocate for overburdened taxpayers.

Notice that half the country on the bottom end pay little or no taxes.

Meanwhile back at the Stale Cave, Obama has proposed a whopping 442 new taxes since 2009 according to Americans for Tax Reform.

If that's not a sure sign of decadence I will have to ask to be informed on the matter.

Of Game Boards

Monopoly and its anti-capitalist roots.

Originally conceived as The Landlord's Game by Elizabeth Magie.

Meanwhile back in Poland....

If there is one country (alongside Vaclav's Czech Republic) that has taken the lead in explaining to the world the evil's of communism it's Poland. At every turn the Polish hold no punches in dealing with their disdain for communism and the Western dopes who still defend it.

After all, unlike progressives who live in nothing but comfort in the West, Poland actually experienced it.

As the West continues its strange, mad descent into adopting more and more socialist-socialized policies while insisting on believing it's doing it 'right' the Poles, thankfully, hold no such romantic arrogance in their thoughts.

For that, we should be grateful to Poland.

Poland expresses its pride for having kicked to the curb defunct ideologies like communism on many fronts and through several mediums including having devised a game board.

From Der Spiegel:

A Polish research institute has developed a board game to teach young people about life under Communism. In the game, which is inspired by Monopoly, players must wait in endless lines at stores for scarce goods. For added realism, they have to put up with people cutting in line and products running out -- unless they have a "colleague in the government" card.

I already know what I want for Christmas, honey.

It's called The Waiting Game.

Bernie Sanders Takes Reid's Coo-Coo Stance On Koch Brothers

I've been down this road before having linked to who are the major donors in American politics and lo and behold the unions are. And the unions give to which party again, Bernie?

Lemme help you with that. What, you say? No, no you can keep your sandals on.

Biggest donors from 1989-2014 from opensecrets.

While 92 of 156 donors gave more to the GOP, the top heavy hitters gave their share to the Democrats.

While in 70% of the top 10 individual donors gave to the Democrats.

So let's knock the bull shit off. If you're gonna rail against the Koch brothers, have the decency to mention Soros.

Koch believe in a classical liberal America. Big deal. If you don't like it, challenge them with facts instead of hysteria.

Anyway. Sanders chimes in with assertions pretty standard among progressives:

"For the Koch brothers, $80 billion in wealth, apparently, is not good enough. Owning the second largest private company in America is, apparently, not good enough.  It doesn’t appear that they will be satisfied until they are able to control the entire political process.

It is well known that the Koch brothers have provided the major source of funding to the Tea Party and want to repeal the Affordable Care Act."

Not to say nothing, but they have a pretty good case as to why they may want to repeal the ACA.

As for the presumptuous projection of 'nothing being good enough' for them, well, that's none of Bernie Sanders fucking business. It's not my, his or anyone's place to judge how much is enough of anything for other people.

Some people are more ambitious than others. Some individuals have drive and that inner-engine never stops. I know the left can't understand this feature among some of our fellow humans, but it's a reality.

They seem to have a huge problem with this lot. All this amounts to, when you scratch it to its primal end, is envy.

Nothing more, nothing less.

U.S. Treasury: Mobsters In Drag

One of the signals of a decaying empire is how a government collects taxes and how it treats peaceful citizens.

In the United States we're seeing before our eyes an aggressive government bullying citizens under various departments including but not restricted to the IRS, EPA, AFT and recently BLM in Nevada with the Bundy ranch.

Now the U.S. Treasury department is going after people for debts they didn't know about left behind by their parents. In this story, 37 years later.

Congress quietly passed this bill in 2011.

Obama is protecting the deadbeats and cronies. Not the working middle-class worker (and honestly, if you're an American worker I can't understand how this is not obvious by now) and productive class.

I thought Obama and his gang of cronies were out to protect the middle-class; that they were going to stop them from being hammered by a rigged, godless system?

Where is Elizabeth Warren anyway?

Right.

They don't give a shit.

But Isn't Harper The Bully?

Ah.

But Trudeau - a Liberal - says all the 'right things' with a hint of passione and panache (to his base anyway). No wonder the CBC is silent on a bullying suit by Christine Innes against Trudeau. It's their boy.

But I thought such declassse tactics are for right-wing extremists!

At this point, swing voters who were uncertain about Trudeau should have seen enough by now. He's a gaffe blunder. If they think he'll 'learn on the job' I would argue no he wouldn't and that they should look down south to see what thinking along these lines gets you.

True, slim pickings among the parties but opting for Trudeau is a vote for amateurism. At my age, I don't feel watching an on the job program. The Liberals cynically went for the name (over Marc Garneau) and they have to sink with it. As for Freeland, Lord oh Lord, she's Elizabeth Warren North minus the claim of Native blood.

Keeping Neighborhoods Safe

Arrested and thrown to the ground for....walking on the wrong side of the road and not heeding the orders of a policeman.

I mean come on! Doesn't she know she should heed the orders of the policemen? Doesn't she respect the fact they want to get home safely?

Anyway.

Here's how the police chief spun it:

"The motorcycle has a patch on both sides of the gas tank. It's black and white and says 'Whitehouse Police,' and has red and blue lights on it," Whitehouse Police Chief Craig Shelton said. "So you have to take it for what it is. Do you think he's a Whitehouse police officer? Why would you think he's someone impersonating a police officer?

Wow.

If the leadership thinks so stupidly presumptive and displays a remarkable aptitude for being tone deaf imagine the lower ranks.

We have badges and lights lady! I mean, come. ON!

Right. Because people haven't impersonated cops or doctors or nurses or firemen in the past.

What Have The Democrats Ever Done For Us?

Not sure how progressives have convinced themselves that somehow Democrats and Republicans 'have switched sides' on matter of race but given their penchant for revising history in their favor, this act of historical contortion isn't all that that surprising.

History seems to always start today with them. And tomorrow today again and again...and again.

From the History News Network:

During the Senate debates on the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, it was revealed that members of the Democratic Party formed many terrorist organizations like the Ku Klux Klan to murder and intimidate African Americans voters. The Ku Klux Klan Act was a bill introduced by a Republican Congress to stop Klan Activities. Senate debates revealed that the Klan was the terrorist arm of the Democratic Party.
History reveals that Democrats lynched, burned, mutilated and murdered thousands of blacks and completely destroyed entire towns and communities occupied by middle class Blacks, including Rosewood, Florida, the Greenwood District in Tulsa Oklahoma, and Wilmington, North Carolina to name a few.

Reminds me of a story.

Once long ago, a brother was having dinner with his family declared at the table 'I have always cleaned the dishes in this house!' This assertion was immediately challenged. "That is quite the lie,' the sister replied. :Whenever we asked your hand for help, you were always the first to leave the kitchen. I know, because it is me that has always washed the dishes.'" But the brother, sly and sleek in the art of deception, was having none of it. 'Well, I do remember doing it. Besides, you don't do it anymore."

The sister could only sit in stunned silence. She gathered her thoughts and replied, 'There are but two of us at the table. Who did the dishes yesterday? "You. But I meant to do it." "And the day before that? "You. But I was not feeling well." "And the day before that?" "You. But I was late for work." "And the day before that?" "You. But I was promised help." "And the day before that?" "You. But I was planning on doing it later in the evening when we were asleep."

"So tell me, brother, how is it you've 'always' done the dishes when you haven't even done this past week?"

"It matters little. What matters is I believe it. And you can't prove otherwise besides words."

"Will you do the dishes?"

"I'm too insulted to do so."

And he walked out.

Democrats Playing Hollow Race Bait Game

It's almost as if for Democrats/leftists/progressives history starts today. Tomorrow will be marked by a new history while today's history is to be forgotten or rewritten.

Alas, history - the clear, thick spinal chord of facts and reality - usually manages to find its way to the truth. And the truth is Democrats and race history have lived an uneasy existence. Attempting to 'flip' or 'trade up' with the Republicans today is just an act of desperate deception.

From History News Network.

Lisee's Reversal

Heard on the radio last week that there apparently was a riff between Jean-Francois Lisee and Pierre Drainville - co-writers of the Charter now in the dust bin of obscure history where it belongs.

Lisee has already distanced himself from Drainville as it's been reported he never really had a problem with the displaying and wearing of religious symbols in public.

Which begs the question, why did he even bother ruining his reputation if this be true? Why did he "close ranks" and put his name to such a travesty of a charter that had little value to it? The two of them even took their nonsense to the New York Times ridiculously comparing their position on secularism to Thomas Jefferson!

The Parti Quebecois, shabby and second-rate in appearances and thought, have always been a fractured lot. Lisee turning on his compatriots is only further prove there is no honor among thieves.

As I listened, all I can do was think of The Godfather and the 'you can act like a man' scene with Johnny Fontaine:

Lisee could have acted like a man.

Instead, he chose to play the divisive role.

Reluctantly Seeing The Failure Of Obamacare

So. How are progressives rationalizing the failure of Obamacare?

Huffington Post and its commenters offer some thoughts.

I have to be honest, I think it's unfair of us to ask doctors to take a cut and possibly have to downsize from the 7 series BMW to the 5 series BMW.

Yawn. Envy. What else is new?

"In other words, it's just like having insurance BEFORE the ACA- unpredictable, with every insurance company trying to screw you.
Yet another reason to join the rest of the freaking developed world with universal healthcare."

There it is. Just like we all know higher taxes to them means 'screwing the rich,' universal health was always the end goal.

Why they chose to not say this from the beginning is probably what hurts their argument in the end.

Nothing as settling as unsettling thought.

Harry Reid's Evolution

On immigration from...1994.

The hypocrisy. It burns.

It's a pretty decent account of things. It's the exact same position the Republicans hold today.

Someone reminded me that illegal immigration not only poses a significant risk on citizens through acts that break the law (driving under the influence and killing someone for example) but health as well. Part of the reason why a nation has immigration laws is to ensure someone is not bringing in diseases.

More ESPN Errors

ESPN staff reports on Juventus making it to the semi-finals of Europa League 2014: "Italian sides have not made a semifinal in the Europa League or its predecessor, the UEFA Cup, since Lazio in 2003."

7.1 Million Myth

Brandeis: Cowards

Intellectual pygmies.

Little twirps in a James Joyce novel.

Steyn on Brandeis:

"In London, the historian Andrew Roberts calls her "the bravest woman I know". I agree. There's nothing hypothetical about the danger she lives with. She and Theo van Gogh made a movie called Submission: He's dead, and the fellows who did it would like to kill her, too. But some tenured navel-gazing hacks and the prissy little trusty-fundy twerps they pretend to teach think she's the threat?"

As for Brandeis president Frederick Lawrence and the others who took this decision, nobody's asking them to be as brave as Ayaan Hirsi Ali. They will never know what it's like to have their associates murdered and to be forced into living under armed guard. They will never have to "share the risk" that Ms Hirsi Ali faces every day of her life. All that was required of President Lawrence & Co was that they not be total craven, jelly-spined squishes who fold like a cheap Bedouin tent at the first hint of pressure.

But Lawrence couldn't even do that. Ayaan Hirsi Ali campaigns against female genital mutilation - that's to say, the barbarous practice by which Muslim men deny women sexual pleasure by having their clitorises cut off. Lawrence and the other fellows who run Brandeis are in no danger of any equivalent procedure since it seems clear they've nothing down there to chop off anyway. The eunuchs of the American academy are the beneficiaries of western liberty, of the spirit of openness and inquiry that is the principal difference between us and the intellectually stagnant Muslim world. But they will not lift a finger to defend that tradition.

So getting an honorary degree at Brandeis, like serving on the board at Mozilla, is open only to those who make sure they never cross the Conformity Enforcers."

I remember when my former University - Concordia - caved when a bunch of asshole, trouble making students protested key-note speakers on Israel in the 2000s. I swore to never give money to them and never have.

These cowards, just like Steyn explains, benefit from the freedom we've fought for over centuries yet they won't do a damn thing to defend it.

No, this wouldn't make guns 'safer.' Then again, it's not about safety now is it? It's about putting folks in their place.

Prediction: It Won't Work

The President of the U-nited States is set to sign an executive order on pay equity. Pay equity is another one of those meaningless 'catch-all' phrases from know-nothing paternalistic boobs.

Obama can go exec order crazy all he wants but none of his signings will succeed. That's my prediction. Nothing will work. Not Thy Brother's Keeper, not whatever he forces into law on health, global warming, minimum wage - whatever.  Just like the war on poverty and drugs miserably failed, so too will this government initiative.

Believe me, in five years they'll still be talking about it. What once led to pats on the backs all around will have turned into looks of disorientation and shrugs of 'wha happened?"

And you all know that's exactly what will happen.

Think of it. He's compelling a business to pay someone they determined is not worth it. It's interference in the system. That's a two minute penalty in hockey; a flag in football. What can the government possibly understand about each and every unique conditions that mark a business? It doesn't and it can't possibly ever know. All it amounts to is "do this, la,la,la I'm a champion for the wominz and the poorz, don't tell me the results, la,la,la" gibberish.

Why, T.C., he has smartz peoplez aroundz him to give him proper direction in order to come up with this scheme! Smarter than you and me put together! I used to believe that. However, one thing I learned in my life is that it's all a ruse. They don't know. They do it for political reasons and nothing else. They do it because they get votes and mostly because they can. They do it to make it look like they're 'solving problems' when in reality they're creating many more unintended consequences. But because they won't be around when the consequences arise, they can claim success in the meantime and blame failures on misapplication (like communists and socialists do in defending the immoral and atrocious affront on humanity those ideologies have perpetuated on civilizations) or on the 'other guy' or as is common practice on 'deregulation' and 'capitalism. Circle of life.

Capitalism is NOT the source of the inequities. Government regulations is. Capitalism just reflects the collective wisdom of the market. Life is unfair. Government tries to shove a triangle into a square in trying to adjust human nature. They failed that class in Sesame Street I reckon.

Moral of the story? Stop trusting the government for issues that can easily be dealt with in the private sector. Politicians don't know or care. Reminds me of that scene in 'A Bronx Tale' when Sonny told Colagero (I paraphrase) 'Mickey Mantle your idol? See if Mickey Mantle covers the rent when your father can't.'

The government wants to be my partner; my idol. But I don't see them asking if they can cover my mortgage and nor should they. If I want to make a deal with loan sharks I'll go see Gary.

I digress.

Unless you've actually sat behind the desk of a company or business and had to ponder, offer and negotiate a contract with an employee, you have little to add to the discussion. No, the '77 cents on the dollar' statistic doesn't make you an expert since that figure (just like the gun-control stats shamelessly and irresponsibly thrown around by progressives) considers so many factors and conditions it's almost rendered useless. It doesn't say much of the reality of why there's 'pay inequity.'

I know it's hard for leftists who will cheer on the Prez - you get the greedy 1.3455868686% basterds Obama! We refuse to decimalize! -  to wrap this around their non-business heads but business owners and CEO's actually don't, more often than not, operate like they think. Believe you me, if that person is valuable - regardless of creed or race or color -they will get paid.

Obama is just being an economic and social reactionary here. Not surprising because he (just like his wife is not qualified to tell American how to eat) never worked a day in his life in business. No wonder his message largely speaks to people with the same lack of experience.

Facts are facts and just keeping it real here.

Liberals Need To Go For The Jugular; QS Losing Strategy

The election result, while heartening on one side, does leave me with a large gaping hole in my ear drum.

First, let's discuss the daunting task the Liberals face in fixing Quebec's economy. How deeply rooted are our problems? It's not just a mechanical issue backed up by statistics, but one in which a mindset has to change as well.

Consider that we have a massive $265 billion debt - larger than any province  - and in a fiscal cul de sac to the extent we can no longer tax more. If Quebec raises taxes it will enter confiscatory territory. We're taxed enough.

The other problem is the reality of our private sector is stagnant while the public sector continues to expand. Public sector jobs is not job creation. Quebec has - sit down - 525 000 public sector workers for 8 million people! Highest of any region on the continent. Quebec will have no choice but to reduce this as well as come to understand it's spending problem we possess.

The Liberals claim to have a plan to create 250 000 jobs. They only can achieve this figure if they permit the Quebec economy to grow organically in the private sector. One way to do that is to reduce the regulatory demands on businesses that hamper day to day operations. Red tape cost businesses millions of dollars. And for what? To pay the salary of a bureaucrat go over compliance papers with a ruler that has little or no positive impact on, like, anything?

With 70 seats the Liberals have leverage and have even more so with the CAQ having won 22. That's 92 damn ridings that pretty much said 'do what you gotta do for the economy.'

Now is as good as any time to do so.

While we're at it, reign in the OLF. They hurt business. We don't need that shit.

Speaking shit, despite the PQ's collapse, socialism and sovereignty still manages to get some spotlight thanks to the QS and Peladeau.

One can feel happy the Liberals are in power but not too far off lay the lions at the gate threatening to disrupt stability with their nefarious plans rooted in romanticism and gibberish not even Sir Gawain and the Green Knight could match.

Francoise 'Peppermint Patty' David wants an ecological, unilingual socialist, sovereign Quebec paradise. When she's not high on acid and hemp, I'd like to know exactly how she plans to pay for such a state. Marois was pretty much reduced to a laughing stock when she spoke of 'borders and the Bank of Canada' for a simple reason: People pushed back and said 'everything will be negotiated Quebec' and with no leverage, you ain't gonna get what you think. Already the PQ were incapable of conveying a reasonable and feasible explanation of how independence would work (mostly because it can't) imagine this bunch in the QS. They're so shabby, they make the PQ look like catwalk candidates for Armani in Milan.

Above all, think of the mindset of a person like David. She talks as if there's no English rights here. She's worse than Marois on this. Clearly she's not paying attention with her bigotry. We will fight back.

Imagine having to demand someone speak in 'their' language? What kind of ignorance is that in this day and age?

And she leads this paltry party of left-wingers.

Hers is an agenda cemented in old, stale ideas.

The QS got 275 000 votes.

Which is sad because a classical liberal/libertarian candidate would be lucky to get half of that.

Nut Jobs Everywhere: Yale

I can't believe this story. How a university can harass a person like this is beyond the pale.

Bah. TMZ story. I indulged.

About Last Night

Ah. It's a good morning.

The Nazi-xenophobic-divisive Machiavellian deadbeat PQ were slaughtered last night.

They're Coming After Our Name

Progressives have pretty much expropriated the liberal name.

Nestled away in its own world, minding its business, libertarians may think their good name is safe from such an unsavory invasion.

Ah but we assume wrong in faux comfort.
Behold:

  • 3

I want to say something to Ontario who will go to an election. please
do not make the same mistake, do no vote for conservative just like we have done.

you have the chance to elect a left-wing government, a better government, you have a chance we in Quebec do not have, so take it. have some courage.

Courage is the magic that turn dream into reality.
Libertarian communist?
What on God's earth and universe is a fricken libertarian communist?

You can't get more of an oxymoron than that. Clearly, this person is confused and thinks she can say whatever she wants:

I mean, I'm disoriented by this. Irritated even. Now I know how terms get misappropriated. People just take them and attach the label to them. Imagine debating with this winner.
Let's get back to the basics with simple definitions:
Communist:
a theory or system of social organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state.

( often initial capital letter ) a system of social organization in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated by a single and self-perpetuating political party.
I will add a political theory that relies on violence, coercion and murder.
Don't agree? Don't care. That's what political communism is. It must rely on force for its ideology is incompatible with human nature.
Libertarian:

a person who advocates liberty, especially with regard to thought or conduct.

a person who maintains the doctrine of free will (distinguished from necessitarian ).
"The libertarian or "classical liberal" perspective is that individual well-being, prosperity, and social harmony are fostered by "as much liberty as possible" and "as little government as necessary."
Let me add, it is governed by the 'non-aggression principle' whereby if the state coerces you into an action you do not consent to, it is invalid. Moreover, libertarians accept as a matter of necessity the right of private property as cornerstone for liberty. Now, pray tell, where and how communism can even be connected on a remote level with a libertarian?
Within the libertarian ranks, unlike communism,  there is no consensus on a wide range of issues. As long as the main tenets of its principles are fulfilled, libertarians hold divergent views on social, political and economic issues. It is a free thinking group not easily trapped by group think.

On economic matters alone libertarians hold classical views that would make communists die of fear. It is, the libertarian believes, hinged on free-markets and enterprise.

I can go on and on about how absurd it is for this person to claim to be a libertarian-communist for there is no such thing and libertarians might be wise to nip this in the bud by challenging it at every turn.

Communists are statists.

Libertarians are not.

If you have any modicum of historical astuteness, you can't build an honest defense of Bolsheviks who were nothing but murderous thugs. All they did was ruin lives while hoodwinking dumbass, blind Western intellectuals for 70 years.

Merci Mr. Legault; Marois Loses

For speaking briefly in English.

Marois Loses. Good riddance. 30 years of service blah, blah. Not in my name.

Reduced to 25% of the popular vote. That's their core. The core of the separatist movement. Still high. And certainly, there are some in the CAQ.

My advice is to hammer them while they're down. Stomp out why separatism is not feasible; not now or ever.

Note To Gilles Duceppe

I've grown tired with the nationalist line "Anglos are the best treated minority' in the world line.

It's no thanks to his ilk that's for sure. And that doesn't mean we should tolerate the punitive measures in place to 'protect' French. Look, no one is going to challenge Quebec's desire to protect its language and culture. What we're trying to convey is using laws to suppress one over another thus creating to classes of citizens is unacceptable and tramples on civil liberties.

We're 'bien traite' because...

We fought tooth and nail for it.

Peladeau's Party

Hey P-K. You want separation? Lay out how it will work EXACTLY.

I want to know how you will get a seat at the Bank of Canada. How will you deal with Native and Crown lands? How will you deal with the debt and transfer payments?

No more dreams. Facts. No more lies. Facts. No more Machiavellian tactics. FACTS.

Or else, fuck off and don't bother with us with that shit.

Quebec Election: Damage Done

Regardless of tonight's election result - and it's good news the Liberals are in the lead - this time around the PQ over played their hand to the point of utter disgust.

It's like they completely lost their fucking minds with all the nativist, xenophobic sabre rattling. If listen to the far right party of Le Pen in France, it's almost the exact same rhetoric.

Bill 14, the Charter, the OLF, forcing history classes in CEGEP, blocking access to English-language education - it's too much. It's declasse and evil.

It's not acceptable in a free society to have to deal with a party and intellectual culture that constantly seeks to suppress and use punitive measures to 'protect the majority.' 'We're not racist but!' is not a fucking excuse to trample on civil liberties.

Perhaps it's all empty populist rhetoric and the PQ may very well be a dying breed but that divisive crap corrodes the fabric of a peaceful society.

It's not surprising then, after talking to a few of my friends, we've all come to the same conclusion. It's over for Quebec. It's an economic sinking ship and no one wants to do a damn thing about it - not even the CAQ who have not even denounced the idiotic pipe dream of separation.

So, like my wife and I are aiming to do, we're all looking to give our children better opportunities elsewhere. Like our ancestors did in search of a better life, we're doing the same for our children.

The damage was done. The ugliness of Pauline Marois and her ilk is not who we are.

Farewell to deadbeats.

Progressivism: The New McCarthyism

Progressives just love bringing up McCarthy when talking about freedom.

The funny thing is their recent behavior of shutting down opinions they disagree with (e.g. global warming, abortion, race, economics)  is far, far worse than McCarthy could ever achieve.

Krooooogman On The Prowl

What an insufferable jerk Krugman is:

T]he Kochs are perfect villains. It’s not just what they are — serious evildoers who use their wealth to push hard-line right-wing, anti-environmental policies that redound very much to their own benefit. It’s also what they aren’t: they’re wealthy heirs, not self-made men, they aren’t identified with innovation (which you can at least argue for Bill Gates), they haven’t made money for other people like Warren Buffett. So focusing on the Kochs is a way to personalize a vision of conservative politics as a defense of people with unearned privilege.

More here at Free Advice.

Liberals. They hate inheritance with blind irrationality.

It's as if the fact that successfully maintaining a company and make it more profitable is irrelevant because it was 'inherited.'

Like I said.

Thoughts only an asshole can come up with.

I mean, hey, speculators like Soros are a-okay even though they profit off the misery of nations. Yes, sir. Because he's self-made!

Krugman is no liberal and has no conscience. He's just a shill and a hack when it comes to political punditry.

Ah, Venezuela: Socialist Paradise

Gotta feel for the people though.

Socialist countries always have a large supply of criminals and violent thugs.

For the people.

Words And Phrases I Hate

Some over used words:

Epidemic.
Greed.
Wake up!
Racist.

Phrases I hate:

"I'm not a racist but..."

"I have nothing against the English language..."

If you have to preface your argument with any combo of the above, you're not only the very thing you claim to not be, but an idiot as well.

Another line I can't fucking digest:

"Sincere debate." As in a prog accusing a person who legitimately challenges them with valid facts and points of not engaging in 'sincere' or 'serious' debate.

What they want is one-way lecturing. Same with 'conversation.' They don't want dialogue. They want to dictate while you must listen.

Do People At CNN Smoke Crack?

Jesus Christ. I hope this is sarcasm.

'World's greatest leaders' list and Bono is #8 and Derek Jeter #11? Angelina Jolie?

Blech.

I don't fit into many boardrooms that's for sure and if I were sitting in that meeting while someone suggested some of these folks on the list I would have been spinning in my seat in disbelief at how retarded people can really be in a serious setting.

Few of these people come close to 'inspiring' me. I consider Clinton a mere mortal with second-class morals, Buffett a hypocrite and I really don't give a shit about a company - GM - that was given a bail out to survive because it was stupid enough to give the union pensions it couldn't afford. Bloomberg is a tyrannical nanny-stater,  Giffords is a sympathetic pick who advocated for gun control - and lost.

Keep the sports leaders on a separate list and don't piss me off anymore.

Some of those are inoffensive and probably merit a mention I reckon.

Still.

Fuck this list.

And fuck the people who put it together.

Jack Ma stays because he has a cool name.

Quebec Separatist Dreams: Let It Die An Ignoble Death

Well, Quebec papers have staked their claim. La Presse and Le Soleil have endorsed the Liberals while Le Devoir (that rag) hilariously sides with the PQ along with the tabloid Le Journal de Montreal.

I'm sorry. I just can't take seriously a paper that considers itself intellectual like Le Devoir who support an individual that's thoroughly anti-intellectual like Marois.

Anyway. Early polls seem to indicated the Liberals are on their way to a majority. The thinking is the PQ are splitting their left-wing votes with the QS thus paving the road to a Liberal majority.

Let's hope.

Did the PQ err in calling this election? Did they over play their hand? Are Quebecers reading right through their Machiavellian divide and conquer schemes?

The last election the PQ cynically jumped on the student bandwagon protest like wolves. They proceeded to eat the sheep as the student vote helped them to a minority government only to turn around and tell them 'fuck you.'

I don't think the students, having been taught a lesson in realpolitik, will be voting PQ this time around. Even students can learn that lesson.

Nonetheless, some still believe a minority PQ government can happen.

We'll see Monday.

****

I'd like to clarify something regarding Quebec and the currency. I was reminded that in fact, Quebec can use the currency - anyone can use any currency. The issue is whether they would get a seat at the Bank of Canada (which Marois ridiculously asked for). This is unlikely to be granted. Highly improbable.

Which begs the question, if currency is a prime symbol of independence, and Quebec getting a seat at the BOC is not going to happen (currency demands stability and Quebec doesn't offer that) what type of weed have seperatists been smoking? Why would they vote for independence only to give it up through monetary policy? Quebec has more leverage within Canada than it will have on its own.

The whole point, I'm told, of ditching Canada is to 'control their own destiny.' Yet, they're willing to not have a say in monetary policy which impacts their economic decisions?

They live seriously in a world where unicorns rule.

Speaking of economics. Many issues remain up for discussion in the event of Quebec separation. Nationalists are busy either ignoring these issues or finding improbable scenarios like the 'world would accept a "50+1" vote.

It won't matter if the Americans don't acknowledge it - which is my suspicion.

A critical part of the Quebec territory is the St. Lawrence seaway. Guess what? It's Crown land.

Do the math.

On one end you have no power over monetary policy and on the other you won't have control over Montreal's lifeline. No wonder Montreal may have no choice but to file for Canadian status.

Never mind about the Natives who have already made claim their lands are not to be negotiated with an independent Quebec.

And things can get messy. Already inter-provincial barriers are problematic imagine with Quebec on its own. William Watson brings up the interesting scenario of dairy trade.

Meanwhile Andrew Coyne is probably closer to what Canadians are thinking these days about what relations between Quebec and Canada would be like.

Let's recap at the naivete and stupidity of Quebec independence:

- The St. Lawrence Seaway is Crown Land.
-Quebec will not have a seat at the Bank of Canada
-A possible U.S.-Canada union that could isolate Quebec.
-Quebec will not be able to keep the passport.
-Native land belongs to them and will not be subject to  negotiations with Quebec.
-Quebec, with no military, could not exert claims on lands if they wanted to.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Cirque de Soleil won't have much say in all this.

Quote Of The Day And Quebec: Intellectual Basket Case

"Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.— In this formulation, I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be unwise. But we should claim the right to suppress them if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols. We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant. We should claim that any movement preaching intolerance places itself outside the law, and we should consider incitement to intolerance and persecution as criminal, in the same way as we should consider incitement to murder, or to kidnapping, or to the revival of the slave trade, as criminal."

Karl Popper.

****

Quebec's parochial intellectual community should heed. They've taken to believing suppression of one's rights to preserve and protect another is acceptable; that secularism demands "equality." The latter being part of their Charter which is not my charter.

It has no universal appeal; it does not inspire others to emulate its content. It's a piece of divisive fluff.

If this be their position, then they missed the entire exercise of The Enlightenment. They're not liberals in the classical sense. They're tyrants; fascists; socialists and communists. That's all they are.

The individual, in Quebec, is submissive to the collective. And it's kept in line through punitive measures including repressing their right to freedom of expression in some cases opinion.

We are, truth be told, a laggard in Western civilization when it comes to liberty.

The most recent example of our distorted views on liberty comes by the hand of a Dawson College professor one Frederic Bastien (a name too close to Bastiat for my taste).

I'd rather not break this down because I've dealt with this issue enough on this blog. Suffice to say he repeats the usual gibberish about secularism to justify their questionable actions all while using absolutely ridiculous examples that should make any person with a decent grasp on critical thinking blush with embarrassment.

Mr. Bastien's argument summarized in the title of an article published in The Gazette:

On the contrary. It is the very essence of racism and xenophobia. There was no damn need for it.

Cops Behaving Badly

It's not just American cops who behave badly.

Canadian ones can be pre-tty heavy too.

Oh. Look. My surprised face.

On Equality

It's a myth.

A progressive construct. A shadow we seek to box with.

Equality doesn't exist because humans possess free will. We yearn to be free. And demanding equality eliminates freedom for it stands at the opposite end.

There is only equality before the law and God. Anything beyond that, in the work place, in sports, or whatever social setting, there can be no equality because we all are free to make choices. Choice inherently leads to "inequality."

Demanding equality is a fool's game. In order for it to be valid we need a point of reference. But what is that reference point? Indeed, we can easily fall into a trap of envy. "Why does he, a man, earn more, than me, a woman?" Why do CEO's make so much money? Inheritance is hoarding!

All these empty slogans are jargon for stupid and envy. They will claim it's to find "balance" and "justice" but it's just destroying another person's liberty to submit to the arbitrary rules of the collective tyrannical mob.

That's all it is.

Our concern shouldn't be equality. The more we obsess over a futile exercise the more we distort it. The less, in other words, equal we become.

Our focus should be maintaining liberty and freedom.

For instance, men and women can never be equal for a multitude of obvious reasons. First among them, women hold the most important task of all - child-bearing and rearing. They're the bedrock of our civilization.

However, this doesn't mean they should lose their right to make choices as free individuals to live their own lives. If they choose to have an abortion. It is their right. If not, still their own right. It is not my place to interfere for once I do, I cease believing in freedom.

We are - or should be - FREE to find meaning and happiness and this is INTENSELY PERSONAL. If this means they become 'unequal' (ie, the woman or man stays home to raise the child) then so be it. The community is stronger when decisions are made by free people. No laws or shaming can ever change this basic fact of human nature.

That's why I don't take my marching orders from top men or bureaucrats. The only way I do is when I'm threatened by force - fines, jail time. The ideas of the government and its flunkies of what constitutes 'equality' is so grand they need to compel you to follow their lead. Like sheep; mouton.

They'll have you believe equality is freedom. But they lie. As they always do.

This seems about right to me.

Mob Vigilantism In Argentina

From NAM New Network:

"Argentina's security secretary said that those who take justice into their own hands are “murderers,” referring to recent cases of lynching of suspected criminals, and which has caused a serious controversy among politicians and members of the Judiciary branch.
“They are not neighbors, we are dealing with murderers,” Sergio Berni told La Red radio in Buenos Aires.

Over the past 10 days, there have been 12 known cases nationwide of public beatings, and worse, of suspected attackers or rapists."

It makes no sense. Obama has never supported gay marriage and the retarded progressives say jack shit. A guy makes a lousy $1000 contribution and the outrage is insane.

Talk about disproportionate and distorted.

Then again, the left is completely out of its mind these days.

Evil.

Just plain evil.

Oh. Using force backed by government to compel bakers to make you a cake when you can just shut the fuck up and move on or attempting to boycott restaurants like when they attacked chicken sandwiches is just the tip of the ice berg.

Wait. It's gonna get worse. Lefties and progs alike behave as if they suffer from Asperger in that they don't read social cues very well and when that happens they revert to violence while demanding for government intervention and action. Like petulant little children who can't articulate and convey their ideas in any inspirational manner.

Progressives are lead by the expedient of the moment. Consistency, philosophy, and morality are not merely foreign terms to the progressive mindset, they're antithetical.. Getting party hacks elected, silencing critics, rooting out heretics from their midst, and above all growing the power of the State is the progressive directive. Racketeering Still Exists Thanks To Cronyism

Sure. The government isn't into racketeering.

Now, do you understand why the government should not get involved in something it knows jack shit about? By something I mean, business. Government are made up of men. And not all of these men are businesspeople. But in their position of power, they seek, well certain benefits.

Believe you me, if the small brewers had the cash to put in envelopes they wouldn't be up against this. Instead, multinational and distributors have the money to pay off crooked legislators.

It's not that hard to figure out.

Monopolies are evil and Canada plays that game as well as any.

Yet, all I see are people who defend this time and again buying into what amounts to 'it's for the children' crap. Or my personal favorite, "to preserve competition." The CRTC says stupid things like that. Sometimes I hear this stuff and can't believe someone would actually believe it. But they do. Just like whenever I hear Pauline Marois I can't for the life of me how anyone - and I mean anyone - with a decent mind and sense of decency could even consider voting for that clown. I digress.

If they're not using their leverage to shakedown companies they set up the game so as to help out fellow cronies.

The sooner people realize they don't give a shit about YOU, the sooner they can wise up. Only then will they start to vote the bums out. Right now, the best option are the libertarians.

Laugh.

But they are.

Quote Of The Day

On Obama's claiming success about Obamacare (it's settled!):

“it’s amazing what you can achieve when you make something mandatory, and fine people if they don’t do it — and keep extending the deadline for months”

Jimmy Fallon

Fool's Question Of The Day

Bizarro Ellen

It's no secret Ellen just loves the Obama's. Which is weird because Barack's stance on gay marriage wasn't and still really isn't pro-marriage. Originally he said he's for the traditional definition of marriage and was dragged kicking and screaming into taking action. He said all the right things - which is specialty - but did niente in actual action.

“I am a fierce supporter of domestic-partnership and civil-union laws. I am not a supporter of gay marriage as it has been thrown about, primarily just as a strategic issue. I think that marriage, in the minds of a lot of voters, has a religious connotation. I know that’s true in the African-American community, for example. And if you asked people, ‘should gay and lesbian people have the same rights to transfer property, and visit hospitals, and et cetera,’ they would say, ‘absolutely.’ And then if you talk about, ‘should they get married?’, then suddenly…” - Feb. 2, 2004, while an Illinois state Senator, in an interview with Chicago gay newspaper, the Windy City Times.

6. “I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman. Now, for me as a Christian — for me — for me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union. God’s in the mix.” - April 17, 2008, while running for president, defining marriage at the Saddleback Presidential Forum.
7. “I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage. But when you start playing around with constitutions, just to prohibit somebody who cares about another person, it just seems to me that’s not what America’s about.” - Nov. 2, 2008, while running for president, in an interview with MTV.

8. “I’ve called on Congress to repeal the so-called Defense of Marriage Act to help end discrimination to help end discrimination against same-sex couples in this country. Now, I want to add we have a duty to uphold existing law, but I believe we must do so in a way that does not exacerbate old divides. And fulfilling this duty in upholding the law in no way lessens my commitment to reversing this law. I’ve made that clear.” - June 29, 2009, as president, at an LGBT Pride Month reception.
9. “I have been to this point unwilling to sign on to same-sex marriage primarily because of my understandings of the traditional definitions of marriage. But I also think you’re right that attitudes evolve, including mine.” - Oct. 27, 2010, as president, in an interview with a group of liberal bloggers.

The above quote is Obama's shtick. Call me. I've got a phone and pen. Then turns around and says 'no' because (insert excuse here). Especially on economic matters where he holds equally antiquated views.

11. “I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married.” - May 9, 2012, as president, in an interview with Robin Roberts of ABC News.
Hardly the first gay President material right there. Notice in all the quotes he's pandering to the crowd before him. He's not being 'courageous' or 'evolving.' He dicked around until he saw it was safe to take a position. Unfortunately, like marijuana, it's not the one he was hoping for.

Yet.

Ellen loves him. I dare say, aren't those comments reserved for 'conservative troglodytes'?

Bizarre.
