The Daily (Fricken) Derp

First a little quip by your truly.

Everyone thinks they figured out 'the scam' or the answers to 'better living.'

In reality, they're chasing a shadow.

Sorta like investors (usually engineers) who think they figured out how the market works.

Okay here's another one.

When something gets off to a bad start in most anything, it rarely gets back on track.

As Americans have learned with Obamacare.

Alrighty, off we go with the Derp!

*******

Here's an analysis on Assad and Syria from the Long War Journal.

*******

The party of science continue to fucking love science and sciency things.

*******

Don't say conservatives don't come up with dangerous ideas and suggestions for the Constitution. Ask Mark Levin.

Not good and very disappointing.

Why don't you get a dictator and be done with it already?

******

Sober and interesting account of why this person no longer identifies as a feminist.

"Volunteers were heartbroken when they were forced to destroy “perfectly good barbecue” by covering it in bleach and then throwing it in a dumpster.
Every year, for the last five years, volunteers with Kookers Kare – a group of barbecue chefs with hearts as big as their stomachs – have worked together to feed thousands of hungry homeless people. However, this year, 3,000 homeless people expecting that food, were denied it, thanks to the cold and callous hand of the state."
We're the government and only we're allowed to care for people.
Wouldn't surprise me, this being the government where cognitive dissonance is absent, if they were to  take ads warning people not to waste food because Africa - or some shit.
******

Aw. Hurt and surprised by how the government doesn't give a shit and puts rules about humanism?

Check this out:

Seven-year-old Ryder McIntyre of Quispamsis has cerebral palsy and was thrilled when a road crew showed up at his house last summer and paved his family's gravel driveway for free so he could finally move around and play in his own yard.
"It's great," said Ryder's father, Tyler McIntyre.
"He can play on a flat space — not on the road and he can use his adaptive bicycle.  It's a lot easier for him."
Ryder was beaming when he posed for a picture on the new driveway after it was finished, but those good feelings dimmed last month when the family got caught up in the province's continuing property assessment scandal.
As neighbours around them got assessment decreases, the McIntyres were notified of a $50,900 increase in their property assessment and a 25 per cent increase in their tax bill.
No good deed goes unpunished, brah. Especially where bureaucrats get involved. This is the lesson.
Now go and punch in 'EPA abuse'.

You woke now, brah.

Is youtube demonetizing sites they don't agree with politically? Even apolitical sites who happen to discuss topics progressives don't like aren't safe anymore.

What a shame. And disgrace if true. Time for someone to come up with an idea to challenge youtube.

The U.S. women's soccer team has been demanding they get equal pay to their male counterparts in the USMNT in recent months.

Maybe they should focus more on their own development and not lose to an U-15 team before they make such ridiculous demands?

The women's game is not on par with the men. Simple as that. Not tactically, not physically, not talent wise or, and this is the crux of the reality, revenue wise. It isn't.

I had my own experience with this back in the 1980s. After losing a game in a tournament in which we didn't play well a group of girls representing Team Quebec and four years our senior took to trash talking us for some reason and even challenged us to a game. Most of my team mates declined so only seven of us took on 11 18 year-old girls.

We were trashing them something like 9-0 before a couple of the guys had had enough and walked off the field.

We showed no mercy. That's what you get for bugging a bunch of 14 year-old boys with bruised egos fresh off a loss.

So a degree from Stanford is worth what exactly now?

"When Ziad Ahmed was asked on his Stanford University application “What matters to you, and why?”, his answer was clear.
He wrote: “#BlackLivesMatter”, repeating the hashtag exactly 100 times to highlight the excessive use of police force which disproportionately kills black men and women.
The practising Muslim senior high school student in New Jersey has since been accepted to the prestigious University."
The West. This is precisely how it's falling and why Trump won.

Let in little SJW twirps in and what do you expect?

Excellence?

What in the hell is Stanford thinking?

******

Of terrorists and women's marches.

"The document was co-authored by, among others, Rasmea Yousef Odeh, a convicted terrorist. Odeh, a Palestinian, was convicted in Israel in 1970 for her part in two terrorist bombings, one of which killed two students while they were shopping for groceries. She spent 10 years in prison for her crimes. She then managed to become a US citizen in 2004 by lying about her past (great detective work, INS: Next time, use Google) but was subsequently convicted, in 2014, of immigration fraud for the falsehoods...."

'"...You can see why she’s a hero to the left. Another co-author, Angela Davis, is a Stalinist professor and longtime supporter of the Black Panthers. Davis is best known for being acquitted in a 1972 trial after three guns she bought were used in a courtroom shootout that resulted in the death of a judge. She celebrated by going to Cuba.
A third co-author, Tithi Bhattacharya, praised Maoism in an essay for the International Socialist Review, noting that Maoists are “on the terrorist list of the US State Department, Canada, and the European Union,” which she called an indication that “Maoists are back in the news and by all accounts they are fighting against all the right people.” You know you’re dealing with extremism when someone admits to hating Canada."
Nice people.

Rotten actually.

I need a breather here. Much derp brings much stress.

Learn ye some liberty!

Ivy League schools ain't what they used to be.

Harvard just doin' its bit to further damage...things:

"In a dark development in the on-going saga of Harvard sanctions on members of “unregistered single-gender social organizations,” Dean of Harvard College Rakesh Khurana today sent Harvard students the 46-page “Final Report of the Implementation Committee for the Policy on Membership in Single Gender Social Organizations” along with a statement that he will be accepting “nearly all” of its recommendations. The report is the one that was kept under lock and key for months, and of which even the committee members who wrote it were denied copies. (No red flags there!)"

Not for derps.

Obama's sparkling grasp on things.

Yup. Still an idiot.

Not gone enough.

******

Not derp.

RIP Don Rickles.

“I shouldn’t make fun of the blacks,” Rickles said, and then proceeded to do just that: “President Obama is a personal friend of mine. He was over to the house yesterday, but the mop broke.”

Man had more balls than the entire lousy cast of SNL who were too busy licking Obama's balls like cultists.

******

Italian academics do the right thing and don't take part in the stupid Israel boycott.

We could not reach Odeh for comment.

Open and tolerant Canada:

"Nearly half of Canadians want to deport people who are illegally crossing into Canada from the United States, and a similar number disapprove of how Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is handling the influx, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll released on Monday."

Yes, we did. Yes, we can.
“You were the change. You answered people's hopes, and because of you, by almost every measure, America is a better, stronger place than it was when we started.”
- President Barack Obama

Ah.

Coulda fooled me.

******

But people actually believe, for instance, he 'calmed the Middle-East.' No joke. One of the most inept administrations seen yet, and he's getting credit for it (those nasty Republicans wouldn't let him do anything!)? Every single day of his Presidency he was at war. His rhetoric had no consistent message (Benghazi at the very least was a symbol of a breakdown in leadership), he dropped tens of thousands of bombs, destabilized Libya (sure, why not?!) and Egypt and so on.

Over 26 000 bombs in 2016 alone.

And Trump's first bombing campaign is setting a 'dangerous precedent and threatens to destabilize'?

ARE THEY FRICKEN KIDDING ME?

******

What the hell is Brian thinking?

“I am tempted to quote the great Leonard Cohen: ‘I am guided by the beauty of our weapons,’” he added. “They are beautiful pictures of fearsome armaments making what is for them what is a brief flight over to this airfield.”
I just find it astonishing Brian Williams got another job. Meanwhile Billy Bush is unemployed for merely giggling.

Think about that.

"As numerous experts have since said, unmasking is pretty common. Even if Rice did not break the law (and it appears she did not), the scandal is that what she did was most likely legal. It is not outrageous that a national security adviser can discover the names of Americans caught up in legal surveillance of others when there is a threat of a terrorist or cyber attack. It is outrageous that it’s so easy to do this in the absence of such a rationale.”

Classiest most transparent administration EVAH!

Michael Mann idiot?

Yup, still an idiot.

In the 'No shit' instalment of the day.

There WAS a liberal media bubble!!!???

Anytime I see a comment that includes 'Drumpf' in it, I safely ignore it. It suggests a pant-shitting ignoramus so why bother?

"In our willingness to believe any evil of Trump, some have claimed his original name was "Drumpf". This isn't true, this isn't how the German language works. Trump has the power to short-circuit critical thinking in both his supporters and his enemies. The "Drumpf" meme is just one example."

Fall of the West reason #657339982845:

Criticizing Sharia is 'hate speech.'

Oh. And time is all relative man. It's not right to tell people of other cultures their not punctual.

Yes people. This is where we're at.

It's worth noting that cultures who don't consider punctuality to be a case of respect for a myriad of reasons generally don't come from prosperous lands - albeit sometimes lovely places to visit.

"...Rather, the slide says that Alejandro should “recognize cultural differences that may impact the meeting and adjust accordingly,” and understand “that his cultural perspective regarding time is neither more nor less valid than any other.”

Shut the fuck up, Donny.

Very long but interesting read on left-wing terrorists in the United States including Bill Ayers.

San Diego is discovering unintended consequences is a bitch where $15 minimum wage is concerned.

Except it's not unintended consequences. This would mean we didn't know what could be the result of an action undertaken. In the case of minimum wage, there's over 100 years of body of evidence detailing it doesn't work and, well, fucks the poor and unskilled workers.

So there are no excuses. Politicians who push this are ignorant left-wing dopes wreaking havoc on our economies.

When I was in university the most annoying people were the ones on student bodies. Always angling for something pointless, making noise, causing a needless ruckus that really, in the end, changed fuck all. Indeed, they were always engaging in the most foul, anti-humanist, pseudo-intellectual bull shit.

And they've seem to have gotten worse.

"Some students who voted against the measure cited concerns that, if approved, it’s essentially “legitimizing certain hate speech,” “delegitimizing minorities on campus” and “putting people at risk,”

Tape 'em up boys!

Word of advice if you're not sure if the person in front of you possesses profound intelligence. If they say, 'I believe in free speech but...' they're a poser.

The Charles Murray flap.

The irony of course is in his book Western Acheivement, Murray touches on the subject of whether there is a decline in Western achievement. He contends that since, the 1950s there has been one.

Looking at university and college campuses (as a mere example given students are supposed to lead future generations), I tend to agree.

Not promising.

More on the Murray here and here.

Another irony here is Murray's wife is from Thailand where did a lot of humanitarian work over there.

That's more than any of these idiotic students will ever do for fellow humans besides scream and holler nonsense.

It's an anti-intellectual witch hunt and academics and deans alike are playing their parts by enabling the SJW movement

Speaking of stupid students, remember that kid who got into an Ivy League school for writing 'BLM' all over the entry exam? Yeh, surprise, he's from a white privileged background.

Yeh well, to me, the Palestinian flag on the corner of Park and Pine is an eye sore.

I always come down to one thing: The Jews have contributed far, far more to the North American experience. So profound it only sheds even more light on the Palestinians mindset and its left-wing supporters.

One side produces, the other agitates.

File under 'Victim group eating each other up' or 'We try to do nice things':

“The CMHR, run by wealthy children of settlers, decided local Indigenous people’s heritage does not deserve the same respect as their own ancestors and history,” writes author Kimlee Wong. “[It is] a decision rooted in cultural superiority, arrogance and privilege … The CMHR was constructed with the same Eurocentric arrogance that stole peoples lands, food sources and eventually their children; Eurocentric arrogance that determines that their pet projects are more worthy of public funds than affordable housing and justice for missing and murdered Indigenous women.” Now there’s someone who won’t be patronizing the gift shop."

Well, this segment is called The Daily Derp:

"Public service broadcasting (PSB) across the world is in crisis. This article examines how, if at all, normative academic ideals of public service broadcasting inform discussion about the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in Canadian news media. The researchers undertook a quantitative (N = 467) and qualitative (n = 29) content analysis of five years of Canadian news media coverage about the CBC published between January 1, 2009, and April 30, 2014. Their systematic analysis of this research found little connection was made between the CBC and discussions of public service values. This study contends that the pre-eminence of neoliberal discourse represents a serious assault to broadcasters with a public service ethos."

Oooooh. Neoliberal...hissss.

Hey man, a power fist to J Geils.

When music was fricken music. That's what I think whenever the old gatekeepers like Berry and Cotton pass on.

The J Geils Band never needed a subsidy, right?

2 comments:

  1. When J. Geils passed away the brief tributes on the news referred to The J. Geils Band as being "an '80s group".

What about GIVE IT TO ME and the song you're presenting off of YouTube?

Peter Wolf was the lead singer. The J. Geils Band was another one of those "self-titled" groups whose namesake/leader was an instrumentalist. Sort of along the same line as The Dave Clark Five, or Paul Revere and the Raiders, or Manfred Mann, or Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.
