Cut the pretense of being a Fox Network news buff, Commentator. You are above superficial allusions about Monica and her blue dress. If you could avoid this snarky pose for a moment, it should surely occur to you that Hillary will be more like a Bush-Lite than a neo-Clinton. You should welcome her. Just what you want. Quit posing and get real. Your readers will only love you more for it.
The gal, from what I have gathered, has not accomplished much from a legislative level. She strikes me as superficial - well, I guess that makes her Bush's opposite. And her idea for universal health is a recipe for outright disaster in my opinion. She has no vision. Then again very few get to have one. I hear Joan of Arc did as well as Martin Luther. Meh.
Now they are analyzing the cackle. Oh boy, I hope it doesn't get ugly for her sake.
And where's the Fox pretense in this? We don't even get Fox News up here - except for the programming of course. Don't forget the lyrics? Yeesh.
As for foreign policy, I kinda subscribe to the building and nurturing strategy but in a region like the Middle-East - where you're dealing with so many geo-political permutations - that's a tough proposition. That said, you may think I'm nuts here, but Pat Buchanan makes sense. As a whole, he advocates non-intervention in messy foreign policy situations.
Forget me. I'm just an inconsequential Canadian who can't vote. Who are you supporting?
Screw my readers...no, wait. I didn't mean it! Come back, Gordie!
Bush would say you never know whether or not you can win until you go. And if it turns out you can't then his instinct is to try another war. All he needs to do is to win a little war, and maybe he can quit?
I think we just figured him out. All we gotta do now is figure out a country (easy mark) we can beat with the residue of the military we now have.
The realist side of me says that he did it to keep the American economy going. If he could make a democracy of another country in the process all the better. America can win any war - provided they prepare for it.
I also don't want by realism to cross over cynicism. After all, there is indeed a terrorism scourge. There aren't many nations who would disagree on this front. Learning to fight it is another matter. I think the American military classes has already begin the adjustment phase.

In addition to Buchanan, Macchiavelli also advised to never go into a war you could not win.
ReplyDeleteThe invasion and toppling of Iraq was a success. The aftermath was less so.
Never go to war unless you can win it?

Did I ever get an answer on whether or not I can call you "Commy"?
ReplyDelete"The Commentator" seems all too formal for me.

"I also don't want MY realism to cross into cynicism"
ReplyDeleteI really should reread my own comments.
