USWNT Are An Unlikable Bunch

Someone forwarded me a Tweet from Bill Simmons where he praises a pose by Megan Rapinoe after a goal.

I found it odd to be proud of such an image because it exuded smug arrogance.

A feature, not a bug with the USWNT.

Note Alex Morgan's (the striker claimed to be as good as....Lionel Messi) goal against England where she ran to the sideline and mimicked drinking a cup of tea.

Stuff you essentially don't see on the men's side because, well, it wouldn't be tolerated and it's sophomoric.

I perused through the comments and was surprised - though not shocked - how some seem to think Rapinoe is some kind of trail blazing social justice pioneer while accepting such antics.

She's a soccer player. Keep it in perspective.

No doubt they're a dominant force in women's soccer and deserve all the praise for their performance on the field but their conduct as professionals really leaves much to be desired.

I don't know about those people in the Twitter feed, but a) I was always taught when playing to show respect to your opponents and their fans and b) I make sure to teach my daughter humility and respect.

I just don't see it with this team - and even past teams. USA soccer needs to clean that up a little lest their image be one where people respect but hate.

They're an easy team to root against.

And to listen to sports writers gush over this nonsense is equally as classless.

They're all the 'Ugly American' personified.
