At this point, I don't think anyone can invoke Bush with a straight face anymore.
Obama is all that and a bag of chips when it comes to this sort of behavior. Ordering Verizon to hand over ALL phone records is disturbing. Communist disturbing.
4th amendment? What's that? More stuff written by dead slave-owning white dudes?
The only excuse left, and it's a weak one, is that Bush opened the door to all this. True, but let's look at it from another perspective. Obama was seen as a 'civil liberties champions' among the young and I imagine technology sector. His hostile actions, of course, has forced smart people to rethink this positions. If civil liberties really mattered to him, then he would not enter the door opened by Bush.
If a person breaks a door and asks you to enter to steal things, do you go in?
The story was broken by Glenn Grunwald from The Guardian. Why does it seem these scandals are being broken by international news agencies? Are domestic news services in the USA sleeping or something?
Obama. Bush 2.0 +.

Before we Canadians get all giddy, our government spies on us too. We're just too busy looking at Snowden because it's American news and it makes us feel better.
They have a left-wing socialist in power. We have a right-wing neo-con.
The combination for this continent isn't good.
In the end they all meet up in Tyrannicaville.
Feel safer?
