Democracy Is Just A Word

...An empty shell.

It's what you fill it with that gives it meaning. More, a soul.

Let me borrow an analogy from the financial industry with Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSP. Equivalent to a 401k in the U.S. as I understand it).

An RRSP onto itself is just a savings vehicle in the abstract if empty. It comes with one built-in advantage: It's tax sheltered. It can't do anything for you if you don't invest in something. What you invest in will determine your financial picture in the future for better or worse. You must be wise and prudent in your assessments and decisions. You miss and the tax-sheltered advantage of an RSSP is all for not.

A democracy is only as valuable as what you put into it. Its built-in feature is voice to the people. It must also entail liberty. If you permit yourself to be unwise and imprudent, dismissing the people's aspirations for example, what you may have then is a democracy in name only. You can rightly claim it's a democracy; but in reality it's nothing but a mistake; a foul corrupt version of a noble idea.

I suggest, if you don't know him, to check on abelincoln.blocspot. com/. Ypu gave the link on my own blog. This morning he posts on how the drug industry owns American politicians. You may enjoy.
