This comes from former CBS employee Robert K. Blechman who contributed this to Blogcritics.

  1. Personally, I find it embarrassing that Dan Rather is still dragging his "anchor" around. You could say his leaking craft has run aground on the shoals. Or make that SCHORR. In any case, a few mornings ago, Daniel Schorr speaks for me on Rather.

  2. NPR! The closest thing the USA has to the CBC.

Well, should you (we) be surprised by what Mr. Schorr has to say? It became pretty obvious that it was the case.

Not so long ago I had a conversation about Katie Couric with a friend who is an internet marketer. I was talking about the quality of content being so hopelessly without substance while he was talking about how it's all about marketing. To him - and by extension to the networks - she is incredibly marketable.

So what Schorr said about the shuffling of papers seems to continue - and not just on Saturday Night Live's Weekend Report.

As for his suggestion about giving credit to the researchers, reporters etc. This is something they do in Europe. I noticed this in Italy and France. If you're lucky enough to get channels from those countries you will notice that this is the protocol.

  3. I don't know CBC. Is it up to the quality of BBC? I wake up to the Beeb every morning.

  4. I would argue yes. It's in the same tradition of public broadcasting. Though it is under criticism for news bias. Some feel they lean left and it's a little too obvious. The quality of its radio and tv programming are very good nonetheless.
