There's little doubt our measures are delaying he'd immunity. As it stands, Canada's situation is pretty good overall. Hospitalizations aren't over whelming the system, the R-value is below 1 (which suggests the herd immunity thresh hold could be as low as 25%), and the virus is definitely showing it's teetering as Yale's Dr. Risch has explained. We're not in mortal danger. We're actually in a good spot.
So that means politicians will shift their rhetoric right?
Not so at the moment. We're still getting our fair share of 'Doomer' Covidism including the new focus on variants to the point now media is starting to stoke fears about them as Covid-19 heads out.
This should worry us.
Canada has doubled-down on the measures despite the fact we actually should be open and back to normal now. It would appear officials are going to play into the 'variants' hand and we need to now show some dignity and say NO.
We cannot live this way. It's not a life always living in fear of a variant.
Canada's public health officers are physicians who can't extricate themselves from their hyper precautionary principle position and exact some damn common sense.
If they won't do it, then the politicians must put their pants on for once and do right by Canada.
This virus has already mutated over 20 000 times.
Variants don't mean we need to head into lockdown. Or else we'll be doing this forever. Just let it run its course now.
Canada. You were more than patient in 2020 and into 2021. Don't make them take advantage of you manipulating your compassion and patience.
