In America, not everyone is covered (though as I understand it it's far more complex than that) but have easy access to first class outstanding medical care. In Canada, everyone is covered under universal health care but face doctor shortages (Quebec is a disaster zone) and long waits in hospitals that sometimes resemble third world conditions. Getting to a specialist is the problem here - well one of the problems anyway.
One is moving (or at least talking about) towards some form of universal care while one is moving towards private.
Talk about lost in translation.
What we need is to fuse both systems!
Oh, right. That's what the two-tier system argues.
