I don't like what I see coming out of the UK these days. Notably on the rise of their police state and the crack down on free speech as well as their refusal to deal with crimes that have any connection to Muslim communities.
Then there's Brexit.
The interesting and bizarre thing about this are twofold for me.
One, it's pretty galling how the sanctity of the democratic process is being completely over run and ignored in tying to stall on negotiating an exit. The side that keeps telling people who important democracy is and how it's under threat from populists and the 'alt-right' (whoever they are) are, well, engaging in some projection by actually demeaning democracy.
There was a referendum. The people voted. Leave won over Remain. Move on.
But no. Just like in the after math of the election of Trump in 2016, the losing side refuses to accept the result and thus began a smear campaign. Allegedly, those who voted to leave were too stupid to realize they were being fed lies by who else? Russians!
This whole narrative about 'fake news' or 'tampering with elections' stuff is a ruse to crack down on alt-media which have been doing an outstanding job of reporting and investigating. I have a feeling we're about to get a taste of this in the fall with our own elections here in Canada.
In any event, as far as I can tell, the losing side is saying dumb Brits were fooled into voting for ‘Leave’ thus fooling themselves into thinking they have a ‘duty’ (or moral right) to prevent its fulfillment.
Is it not wiser and safer, for the sake and sanctity of a democracy in the long run, to accept the legal result of a democratic referendum rather than deny it?
The other part is the strange connection and relationship Britain has with the EU. It's worth pointing out the UK were generally the most notorious skeptics of the ECC and later the EU (France under De Gaulle not wanting them in didn’t help) who later had no interest whatsoever in joining the Euro. The UK aren't fully integrated to the extent the 'Big Three' continentals are. Yet, they're acting like they somehow have much to lose and can’t live without the EU? If any country could probably pull off a disengagement with the EU it's them. But hey. Democracy and Russia you know?
“It’s one of the factors. But my family, myself, we believe in a world where humans are treated with respect, regardless of your stature or what you’re born into. That’s just where it’s at with this decision. You’re asked to choose what side you’re on, and it’s pretty clear what side I’m on. I believe this is the right decision for myself and my family,” he said.”
Am I missing something? What specifically has Trump done to the community? If there's one area Trump has been consistent about in the last 35 years both as a private citizen and public servant is his steadfast support of gay rights.
I have a couple of American gay friends. Not only do they find Holtby's position perplexing but they also point to the hypocrisy that Obama himself wasn't as supportive as Trump. Recall Obama 'evolved' on gay marriage and only came out when it was safe to do so. Remember when Biden forced his hand?
Some values, right?
Know what Brayden? You have a right to an opinion. Even it's ignorant.
But it's unfortunate. And there's no excuse really:
Another player Connolly said he wouldn’t go either out of respect for Smith-Pelley who is black…and Canadian.
"..Forward Brett Connolly was another Capitals player who publicly declined the invitation, saying it was out of respect for teammate Devante Smith-Pelly, currently playing for the team's American Hockey League affiliate. Smith-Pelly, one of two black players on last year's Capitals, said he wouldn't visit the White House after they won the Cup because he believed "the things that [the president] spews are straight-up racist and sexist." Again. All they seem to have is the (false) narrative of KKK and Charlottesville. Never mind black unemployment being at historic lows. Trump has quietly behind the scenes been helping inner-city black communities. Maybe Smith-Pelley, Holtby and others should, you know, actually inform themselves? Remember the flak Tim Thomas faced because he chose to not go to The White House because 'government was out of control'? Progressives went nuts claiming he was 'racist'. .
The shooting in New Zealand is a showcase in moral panic and mass hysteria of troubling proportions. We've had Chelsea Clinton and Donald Trump blamed. We have the standard over reaction through misinformation on guns. We have crack downs free speech.
It's obscene and should trouble BOTH liberals and conservatives. If there's ONE common ground we need to find it's on being rational and reasoned. This can't go on.
We have to make a stand.
I've read a couple of Peterson's books. I've listened to him interviews and on youtube. He's interesting. He's definitely not alt-right and the smearing of his good name should frighten everyone.
If they can do this to such a man. They can do it to anyone. It seems if you're right of Marx you're the devil.
Cambridge are cowards. Their degree isn't worthy of wiping my ass.
They're part of the closing of the Western mind.
Peterson? That guy can be attacked at any time by a left-wing coward. But he stands firm. He's actually a beacon to people afraid to once and for all stand up against these censorious authoritarians.

Gillberand is trying to out-retard her Democrat competitors. It seems the aim here is to go further left of each other. If Sanders says something left-wing, someone chimes in with something still further left.
In addition to her insanely and preposterously suggesting the already insolvent Social Security (the elephant in the room) be extent to illegal immigrants.
If they keep this up it may be time to consider buying gold and silver.
It's an asset class I've dabbled in but never really considered a necessity. But if these lunatics get their hands on the treasury....watch out. Don't be fooled by they're just politicking. These people believe.
Just look at Trudeau under Canada. We're in debt and worse. It's unaccounted.
Yang is another one. He may know math. But he doesn't know economics and financial math. These are different breeds from the math he's familiar with.
Saying things like 'UBI will lead to 40 000 jobs' only adds to my suspicions about such ignorance.
I can't believe the stuff I hear coming out of the mouths of Democrats.
Are they this dumb? Are they this flippant?
Anyway, back to Gillebrand.
As if that wasn't enough then she chimes in with this doozy:
"If we want to end the opioid epidemic, we must work to address the root causes of abuse. That’s why @SenCoryGardner and I introduced legislation to limit opioid prescriptions for acute pain to 7 days. Because no one needs a month’s supply for a wisdom tooth extraction."
Politicians should keep their noses out of the doctor/patient relationship. They will make things worse. And like obesity, this is a moral panic. The opiate crisis is a moral panic and once again we're seeing the horrific and cruel ideas that pass a 'solutions'.
And what in the fricken world is she talking about when she says 'no one needs'? How the frick does she know what people need? Does she realize there's CHRONIC pain that can't be neatly treated within seven day? This is a really cruel piece of legislation that will have terrible consequences.
This 'no one needs' crap is Marxist bull shit started by that parasitical commie Sanders.
Fuck off slavers and mind your damn business. The hubris on these interventionist, social engineers is staggering.
I've been watching Parliament on and off quite a bit since the election of Trudeau. I go off because it becomes to painful and grating to watch this amateur Liberal party deflect and screech.
But I must say it's a while I've noticed the Speaker isn't exactly fair when it comes to running Parliament. He always seems to eager to reprimand the Conservatives while giving a tad too long of a leash to the Liberals.
Just an observation.

As an important addition, Justin shut down the Justice Committee looking into the SNC Lavalin scandal.
"In 1911 — in the wake of a notorious Gramercy Park blueblood murder-suicide — Sullivan sponsored the Sullivan Act, which mandated police-issued licenses for handguns and made it a felony to carry an unlicensed concealed weapon.
This was the heyday of the pre-Prohibition gangs, roving bands of violent toughs who terrorized ethnic neighborhoods and often fought pitched battles with police. In 1903, the Battle of Rivington Street pitted a Jewish gang, the Eastmans, against the Italian Five Pointers. When the cops showed up, the two underworld armies joined forces and blasted away, resulting in three deaths and scores of injuries. The public was clamoring for action against the gangs.
Problem was the gangs worked for Tammany. The Democratic machine used them as shtarkers (sluggers), enforcing discipline at the polls and intimidating the opposition. Gang leaders like Monk Eastman were even employed as informal “sheriffs,” keeping their turf under Tammany control.
The Tammany Tiger needed to rein in the gangs without completely crippling them. Enter Big Tim with the perfect solution: Ostensibly disarm the gangs — and ordinary citizens, too — while still keeping them on the streets."
Democrats. The scammer party who fool people into thinking they're the good guys.
They're still doing this crap to this day be it with guns or climate.
It has taken me years to come to this conclusion. I generally steered clear from the climate change debate (though I was skeptical of it from the get-go but I'm skeptical by nature so. Whenever I'm confronted with debates where I'm not an expert, I listen to all sides and pay close attention to the tactics and language used and how they treat data. My Spidey senses always told me there was something off with the pro-climate alarmists making me according to the narrative a 'denier') but I've grown quite unnerved by the rhetoric used by its proponents.
It has become less scientific and more rooted in plain superstition. These people have no qualms about scaring the shit out of kids telling them they have '12 years to live'. On this basis alone a sober mind should wonder about its legitimacy.
Never mind about the laughable list of prognosticating failures in the last 45 years.
But what finally sealed it was the utter stupidity I witnessed with the Green Deal.
A disjointed and incoherent mess of retarded ideals that inevitably lead to either a) spectacular failure or b) mass death.
There's no in-between. It's that absurd in its idealistic tenets. So much so Unicorns laughed at its magical beliefs.
So how did we arrive at a situation where techno-scientific bureaucrats and shysters have managed to capture the imagination of people and using fear to get them to submit?
I think this video does a good job.
Climate change is a massive fraud. It's all about system change and taking control of public policy.
What's more disconcerting and troubling is they don't expect people you and me to have an opinion on the matter hence all the threats and shaming.
Science is not settled. Climate ever changes.
Don't be a useful idiot anymore.
Just look at the characters and jargon used. Trust your instincts and judgment. Use those critical thinking skills.
The part where Greenpeace is trying to memory hole Patrick Moore (with the help of media outlets like CNN) as a founding member of Greenpeace.
Should we be surprised? It's how the far left operates. Eliminate and erase the past.
So the people who say are for science want to use emotion to sell their scientific agenda?
Got it.
In this one tweet alone we get insights into how they think.
Let them run off the cliff. The analogy I'm using for now is one where all the great and sound minds who have been drowned out by this movement are waiting on the sidelines patiently letting this dark age pass. When they overplay their hand and fail (hopefully without much destruction to the economy and society), they will regain control and restore sanity.
I read that New Zealanders are voluntary handing their guns in saying 'we don't need these' while simultaneously I heard gun sales are on the rise after the government promised to tighten gun laws.
Of course, the latter group don't broadcast their intentions. They silently just do it. Sort of how the wealthy quietly move money around when faced with coercive or punitive measures seeking to plunder their money.
It's all part of the unseen.
This is rational behaviour. As my father would say in Italian, 'Zit', Zit'. (Zito, zito. Quiet, Quiet. Or Shhh).
This agency, of course, is problematic to the social engineering aspirations of the left. If they could stop it, they would.
All in the name of 'justice' and 'fairness' you see.
Those handing their guns in, I have to wonder about their motivations. It's never explained why they do it.
To me, it's rather odd and irrational.
It in effect says, 'I don't trust myself due the actions of others. Not only do I hand over my guns, I permit the government to strip me of my agency.'
For what?
To show once is virtuous in the face of a perceived evil?
If only we could hand out certificates so that people can display their virtue signalling.
'I handed in my guns, don't use straws and eat less meat.'
What have you done lately to help out?

Officials and activists in New Zealand and Australia are over reacting to the point of madness with their crackdowns. As usual, the 'cure' is worse than the disease. Scumbags.
My first question is what happens when 'their guy' doesn't win the pop. vote? Suddenly I think they're gonna get 'flexible.'
These states, I reckon, are operating under a false sense of justice and righteousness.
Why are they willing to push the country into this direction?
Imagine wiling to jeopardize the sanctity of your own laws for political expediency? Forgive me if one cynically concludes they're not doing this out of principle but strictly to 'stick it to fly over country' as well as to Trump.
All because of ONE election result the left didn't like.
In effect, these states are leading a path to where America's elections will always be determined by the most populous states. The Electoral College was designed to prevent such unfairness.
Why would a small state like Colorado hand over its votes to L.A.,NY and CHI? Why? Because they believe they will stay Blue forever? How insipid and unfair to voters is this?
All from the hand of a highly ideological, unprincipled and corrupted Democrat party.
Besides, how is this temper tantrum even constitutional?
This despite TWO of the greatest bull markets in American history and some meaningful reforms.
**** This is not to say there isn't merit in what they're saying. The EC has been debated since the founding of the country. It's just that it's suspicious and weasel like how they're going about it. No debate, no discussion. They just assume they'd win. ****
You know, we were told America was racist and couldn't handle Obama. As if there weren't any valid reasons to criticize his administration. Turns out, his administration wasn't only incompetent but as sleazy and corrupt as they come. But he was protected. America let his term run.
No calls for changes in American life or politics. The Republicans didn't try and tinker with the system. They didn't holler and scream for eight years like we're seeing. They protested sure but that was the extent of it.
The Republicans did look to tear up the system. That's the conservatism in them. This was the system and it's the best they got. They respected it.
Democrats? They're ready to burn the whole thing down for no real good reason other than...Trump.
This is what the left does....destroy.
Those states who signed it? As far as I'm concerned are a disgrace and their people should be ashamed to be part of something that's potentially so divisive and dangerous.
The party that wants to unite is more divisive than they care to acknowledge.
****
Here's how this should go down. Trump needs to get a second term. Them he must release the FISA docs. Let the people see once and for all what the Obama administration did.
Go to Judicial Watch (they have a youtube channel) for details. It's worth it.
Antifa have been reported beating up old people, Jews, students and who ever else they could in search of Nazis. Hundreds of accounts and yet law enforcement allows them to roam the streets armed?
Yes, you read right. They actually used 'cisgender'. A term literally made up in the SJW ranks fat on critical theory and social constructs.
I'd think twice and thrice before sending my son to a psychologist if this is the route they're taking. They've become whack jobs themselves.
"Boys and men are diverse with respect to their race, ethnicity, culture, migration status, age, socioeconomic status, ability status, sexual orientation, gender identity, and religious affiliation. Each of these social identities contributes uniquely and in intersecting ways to shape how men experience and perform their masculinities, which in turn contribute to relational, psychological, and behavioral health outcomes in both positive and negative ways (e.g., Arellano-Morales, Liang, Ruiz, & Rios-Oropeza, 2015; Kiselica, Benton-Wright, & Englar-Carlson, 2016). Although boys and men, as a group, tend to hold privilege and power based on gender, they also demonstrate disproportionate rates of receiving harsh discipline (e.g., suspension and expulsion), academic challenges (e.g., dropping out of high school, particularly among African American and Latino boys), mental health issues (e.g., completed suicide), physical health problems (e.g., cardiovascular problems), public health concerns (e.g., violence, substance abuse, incarceration, and early mortality), and a wide variety of other quality-of-life issues (e.g., relational problems, family well-being; for comprehensive reviews, see Levant & Richmond, 2007; Moore & Stuart, 2005; O’Neil, 2015). Additionally, many men do not seek help when they need it, and many report distinctive barriers to receiving gender-sensitive psychological treatment (Mahalik, Good, Tager, Levant, & Mackowiak, 2012)."
Next up. Kill male babies.
More:
Looks like the SJW virus has infiltrated the APA. Those 'crazy right-wingers!'
It’s a travesty that you generalize these findings and appear to represent all psychologists when in fact this is only a fraction of clinicians. As a child clinical psychologist for the past 20 years, there’s a reason I’ve never been a member of this group. Pure propaganda.
As an aside, I really don't like when they lie. They take issue when called out for using 'toxic masculinity' despite having explicitly used it.
You really have to give it to the left. When get called out, then just obsfctae as he does here spitting hairs. As if any of those other terms are any better or with merit.
They invent a term - toxic masculinity - and when it gets challenged because of the choice of words they turn around and say, 'no, no! It's not what we meant! You're misrepresenting it!'
Occam's Razor: If they used 'toxic' they meant to use 'toxic'.
As a pejorative.
Know how they think.
As for the rest of this trivial trash bashing men, the notion of stoicism and competitiveness seem to also be challenged by the ASA. Stoicism, of course, was a legitimate school of philosophy in Ancient Greece and one of its more famous writers was the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius who left us Mediations which is a profound piece of Western literature.
Competition is healthy. Nay, necessary for a healthy person. Any person. Male or female (who can be just as competitive. No? Why are they more engaged in sports than any point in human history then?).
You downplay or chastise this out and you're left with a listless and probably indifferent society. One in which gets corroded with mediocrity.
You need to understand that @SarahKSilverman's "I Love You America" was more than a comedy show. It was a conscious effort to make the country a better place. The loss is more than just the loss of some TV.
The crux of their complaint is: Get this. She exhibited 'power' over them by recording their improper interrogation of her. An inquisition because she had the temerity to show - gasp! - a video of Jordan Peterson. A person they called a Nazi and part of the alt-right without a single shred of fact or evidence which led to Peterson himself launching lawsuit against them for libel. And like most progressives, they feel that they should be allowed to call people names and not face the consequences of these actions. Worse, they think this is an attack on their free speech!
Leftists are functionally compromised when it comes to the concept of free speech. They're allowed to call someone a name. In this case, 'Nazi'. But if they don't support this with evidence and it can be demonstrated to be false then they face the possibility of a lawsuit. You don't get to say what you want.
Now here comes the KEY part. Where it's not wise to t advocate for 'control of speech' via government laws, the left explicitly and regularly calls for 'hate speech' laws. Peterson is not attacking their right to speech; he's suing them for libel because it's damaging to his reputation.
They don't realize the intellectual corner they've put themselves in. That's why they're in perpetual lash out mode. Their positions on SJW issues are untenable.
In any event, The idea a female TA basically *threatened* these two tenured cowardly commies is preposterous. But it makes sense once you understand how these morons think. That is, in 'power dyanmics' mode.
Around the 14 minute mark you can hear her voice quiver. No kidding. How would you feel if you had to face such disgusting actions? It's precisely how authoritarian officers under Stalin interrogated people about to be thrown into the gulags.
Trump is far from perfect and can rub people the wrong way but given what the DNC is offering (have you seen that field? It's awful), he's far and away the better option.

I'm torn between giving her attention and ignoring outright. That girl from the Bronx in Congress is so immature and stupid.
"....A study conducted by researchers at the University of Arizona and California’s Loma Linda University in 2010 measured bacteria in a sample of reusable bags, finding many containing dangerous ones, such as coliform (found in half the bags) and E. coli (found in 12 percent of bags).
Pathogens can develop from leaky meat packages as well as unwashed produce. And consumers reported that they rarely wash the bags, according to the study.
"...Reusable bags, moreover, require far more energy and other resources to make, and they may produce more landfill waste. A 2011 study by the UK government’s Environment Agency found that cotton bags would have to be used 131 times before they yield environmental benefits.
As for paper bags, they do work in many cases and break down easier if they become litter. But these have their trade-offs, as well.
One study reports that plastic bags require 71 percent less energy to produce. Plastic bag production also uses less than 6 percent of the water needed to make paper bags. In addition, paper bags generate nearly five times the amount of solid waste."
"...Although there is always room for improvement, the US does a pretty good job at keeping plastics out of the ocean. A 2017 study published in the journal Environmental Sciences & Technology reported that up to 95 percent of plastic waste enters oceans from just 10 rivers worldwide."
You think it's gonna stop at carbon taxes and plastic bags and straws? Think again.
Junk science knows no limits. One bonehead at The Guardian took dead aim at....concrete. you know, the material used to hold up (among the many things too numerous to name here) wind mills.
“No one has a right to destroy property because they don’t agree with someone else,” Dugas said. “Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine being the victim of pure hate because of my belief.”
In a statement to the court, Dugas wrote, “In this case, the right thing to do is to forgive you rather than spill hatred onto you like you did to me. Rather than wish upon you the same fear you wished upon me that day. But I really hope that you are listening. Just because I have a different yet equally as important view as you do, it doesn’t EVER give you the right to spew hate, cause fear, and interrupt someone else’s life."
The next time Dugas got into his SUV with his 15-year-old son, he pointed to the red MAGA hat still on the console.
“See that hat? It hasn’t moved, has it?” he asked his son. The teen shook his head.
“You don’t ever let anybody change who you are, or what you believe in,” Dugas told him. “You stand strong.”
Indeed.
She sure showed him, eh?

Sure thing sugar baby. Ignore, for example, the story of black teenagers beating a mentally ill person for being white or black on white crime or whatever.
