Ben Shapiro Interviews Stephen Harper

*Unedited, one draft post.

Now let's take a look at a leader Canadians chose to not elect to give Trudeau a majority government.

Ben Shapiro interviews Stephen Harper. It's an interesting dialogue. Harper does a good job crystallizing the issue of immigration where he argues it's ludicrous to accept illegal immigration while entertaining the notion that cheap, low-skilled workers - that put a downward economic pressure - are needed in North America, and trade where Trump's assertion China is a closed economy blocking access to its market while the West is open for them and that new trade deals are necessary is a correct one. In each of these cases, the current set up hurts the working poor and middle classes of all races.

I do want to take a brief second to address his perception of libertarianism on both of those subjects.

At around the 12 minute mark he mentions the "libertarian delusion" where they want immigrants (illegal or not) to come in but will not have access to social services. While it's true there are 'open borders' libertarians, the ranks are far from united on this front. After all, they're libertarians. Reason magazine has especially been somewhat perplexing with their stance on illegal immigration which strikes me more as 'anti-Trump' than a logical and realistic stance on immigration. They just claim immigration is good all the time. Period. Which is unfortunate because they are no different than mainstream media outlets who fail to distinguish between legal and illegal immigration. No one is against the former. Not even Trump. The focus is on the LEGAL entry into a country and this has not been addressed enough.

As for the second part of the argument, I've not read this anywhere and the closest to it comes by way again from Reason magazine who posit immigrants use less welfare and social services and allege pay taxes. I find this to be specious myself.

Same on trade. Reason exhibits the same "zero-sum" posture here as they do with immigration. All trade and immigration is good. True. But there are times where trade and immigration are bad. They completely fail or choose to ignore the possibility of this. In the process, give the impression the grievances against poor trade deals and illegal immigrations are without merit. I feel there's more than enough merit to them. It's neither protectionist or xenophobic to thinks so either.

He also claims libertarian thinking runs contrary to data. Here, he is wrong. I find of conservatives, liberals, socialists/progressives, and libertarians/anarchists, libertarians are not only hyper-aware of data but they digest and interpret them better than most as well maintaining a level of consistency and dedication to their core principles.

This is what distinguishes libertarians from the others and has kept me involved in their ranks. Problem is, the no compromise on principles tends to not be a good match for politics at large.

Hence, why they either form a enclave within the conservative ranks in Canada and the United States or stand on their own on the fringes of political life.

But their influence and ideas do often make their way into public life and policy making. Where they were probably once more closer akin to liberalism, the libertarian diaspora finds more allies and sympathies from conservatives.

I think Harper under shoots their respect for data and commitment to core principles.

In any event, a great interview.

What The Hell Are The Liberals Thinking?

I think I've made clear at how much I loathe the Liberals especially under Justin Trudeau.

They're an impossibly arrogant, insufferable bunch with a mean anti-liberty, authoritarian streak in them with a splash of hard core contempt for the people.

I can't stress this enough.

Imagine now what I think with this:

Media sector gets $595-million aid package in Ottawa’s fiscal update; it also proposes a 15% tax credit for those who subscribe to some online media, by … via

In other words, Trudeau is buying/bribing the media in order to control the message.
When this clown said he admired China he not only meant it but wishes to emulate parts of that insular-communist country.
And he has the unmitigated balls to stand and lecture Canadians about democracy?
This is absolutely preposterous and must be blocked. If Canadians allow this to pass the flood gates to true tyranny are now open.
The Liberals aren't liberals in any classical or moderate sense any more. They're just plain authoritarian progressives.
Boot the bastards out in 2019. And I mean, we need to send a message by reducing them to a party of nothing. Force them to reinvent themselves like the Conservatives did.
And give Bernier's The People's Party a shot if you must.
The Liberals absolutely do not deserve a second mandate.

Good, Loyal Workers Victims Of Poor Decisions By Corporations Because Of Social Media

I don't know how often it happens but we've seem a few examples on the Internet of employees immediately losing their jobs (usually without an investigation or due process) because of an incident posted on social media.

On a few occasions, the employees weren't necessarily wrong in the first place and thanks to the very same social media hunting down the facts, the truth prevailed.

It's understandable businesses are sensitive whenever their business attracts bad press but their handling of these incidences are not only over-reactions but unfair on a basic, decent human level.

The irony is in their rush to 'do the right thing' they're hurting good, loyal workers. The first high profile firing happened with the CEO of Mozilla Brendan Eich. There the problem was he had the audacity to donate funds to a group against gay marriage.  So much for freedom.

For a period, his life lay in ruined for merely having an opinion (the wrong with in the eyes of illiberal minds) but has since recovered.

Another dimension is race. Everyone is walking on egg shells in fear of being called a 'racist'. The more the idea 'whypippo' are all racists is pushed the more any incident is immediately perceived to be a racial one, and the more hucksters (hello Al Sharpton!) will take advantage as the latest case with Chipotle showed.

Two things worth considering. Stop apologizing for things you nothing to apologize for. At this point, the apology is a form of fetish for the alleged victim; it's a kind of pleasure-torture watching decent individual grovel for forgiveness. I think they call this 'power dynamics' first brought up by Michel Foucault. A notion left-wing progressives basted in critical theory took and ran with.

The other is stop rushing to judgment and sacrificing employees to the wolves.

It's cowardly and unprofessional.

Companies demand loyalty from their employees but don't seem to stand by them when an incident happens. They're all too willing to cut them out. All is replaceable is the message.

While this is true to some extent, you don't do it for the wrong reasons. Nonetheless, it's not a perception you want for your company.

This is how you lose the 'loyalty' part. It's not a good thing when employees don't feel you don't have their back.

Alas, this isn't exclusive to the social media era. Finding scapegoats that it is. But where people were forced to accept being wronged in the past, today it's not so easy in the age of technology and cameras in one face.

Companies seem confused and challenged as to how to handle the social justice angle to all this. Personally, I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole.

We're witnessing mature companies with established clientele transcending pretty much all class, political and demographic lines to go after a youthful segment to boost sales. Why take action on something that could potentially alienate and lose customers you have? Never mind those like me who shift between brands and need an excuse to not buy your product.

Again, why test loyalty?

The most recent example was Nike and their Kaepernick campaign. This just came off as disingenuous because Nike is an already mature and established brand who just wanted to capitalize on a social justice trend. But was Kap the guy to stake their reputation on?

I don't think he was.

The stock was around $80 at the time. It pulled back from $82 to $79-80 if memory serves me right. Now as I post this, it's down to $72. Sure there are reasons for this, it wouldn't surprise me the Kap campaign is among the reasons why it lost so much ground.

Corprorations are highly protective of their image and for good reason. However, in the age of social media, this protectiveness is giving into paranoia. And when paranoia sets in, sales get hurt.

And the paranoia is seeping into mistreating employees.

It's not the employees who need retraining.

It's companies. Particularly those who seem to be sensitive to SJW causes.

****

Speaking of social justice fools, Apple CEO Tim Cook chimed in with this gem:

"Exclusive: In an interview with "Axios on HBO," Apple CEO Tim Cook says big tech regulation is "inevitable." "[W]e have to admit when the free market is not working. And it hasn't worked here."

This is the CEO of a major company folks.

No, the free markets are fine.

It's just that you figure it doesn't fit into your narrative.

Funny how Apple benefited from the marvels of the free market all these years and now suddenly a woke CEO comes in and decides na-ah!

Ridiculous.

What is it with these giant companies almost begging for the government to bust them up?

Cook should step down if he feels this way.

CBC Interviews Mad Max Again; This Time It Was Better

Good overall interview. Much better than with Wendy Mesley who was out for blood (she behaved a little better with the head of Ontario Proud). In fact, full props to Bernier for giving the CBC another shot. They definitely won't be doing him any favours but the CBC does have a large audience. Ditto to the interviewer for not sabotaging it. She kept herself and her views in check (ie on the topics of feminism and climate change) allow to maintain and conduct a professional interaction.

Those are all too rare these days. Wow. Two decent interviews with Peterson and Bernier with two progressive women! There's hope after all! Kidding aside, it's all we white guys who cherish logic and reason ask.

My thoughts.

Feminism and climate change are the two elephants in the room by which the media uses as standards to determine how woke a person or political candidate are. While the population at large probably doesn't put too much emphasis into them (particularly feminism. Especially the extreme version of it. You know, the ones who are always out there screaming about pay equity, the patriarchy and looking to ban or change the use of words or phrases. For example, in Britain someone wants to end the word 'gentleman'. It's all so absurd and I reckon most sane and sober minds conclude the same), the reality is they take up a lot of space in shaping and forming perception and public opinion.

So one has to learn to handle and dance with the inevitable loaded questions about to be hurtled at them.

He's gonna have to figure out how to answer the 'body of science' (aka "the science is settled!") claim that argues a) climate change (duh) is real which renders the proclamation 'I believe in climate change' meaningless without value and b) it's man-made.

If anything, the 'body of evidence' shows, as endless articles and videos tirelessly show it's quite the politicized and manipulated cottage industry.

Also. Follow the lingo and jargon. They've been shifting it from global warming to climate change (which really means system change and its massive wealth redistribution scheme. The Americans were correct to pull out of the Paris Accords because they would have been the ones to subsidize it) and now, if you notice, the Gaian Religious Order are saying heat is being trapped in...the oceans...leading to cooling temps. Which I remember specifically scientists saying years ago at the height of the hysteria (assuming there's Peak Climate Change Hysteria) only to be, well, you can imagine.

So....in other words Mother Nature is doing its thing but they want us 'to do something' or else we will all perish. Talk about man-mad hubris, eh?

Essentially, Bernier and those who support this position will have to convey the message theirs is less a religious experience and more a reasoned one

They have to show, for instance, the appeal to authority - ie "but 97% consensus!" is not a form of debate. As we know, there's no darn such thing as "settled science" or "consensus" any more there's "hate speech" to be used as justification for further regulations that will confuse and not achieve targets - and make criminal of free and law-abiding citizens.

Furthermore, climate change and hate speech are two terms that are hopelessly vague to the point of nothingness. Which makes the notion of them being on the 'right side of history' preposterous. No kidding the climate changes and people say hurtful things. The point is should we using the coercive power of the state to "control" it? I reckon Mad Max thinks not and if so, he would be correct.

He answered the feminist questioned reasonably well. I find it odd how interviewers like her presume men should be feminists and give a confused look when told they aren't.

It's a really stupid thing to assume to begin with. Trudeau doesn't speak for men on this issue but there seems to be an attitude in the media that if you're not on board with their nonsense you're a misogynist or ignoramus.

Or something.

All I ask of Mad Max is to not engage in anti-American bull shit.

Deep Derp Spaces

When I tell you I've been backed up with stories I wanted to get to, believe me. It's backed up.

Alas, too many of them demand through and reflection and in order to do so, one needs time to devote to it.

I wish I could channel my inner Marcus Aurelius and break down every story to the extent I would like but time doesn't accord me the honour.

Plus I'm a tad lazy.

It's been quite over whelming the confluence of stories bombarding us which is why, in part, I created my 'Derp Spaces' segment. Of course, I was working on one and took for granted the 'save' option was automatic and subsequently lost all those links because of a software upgrade. Pissed me off enough to not proceed with a new one.

But enough of me and my sad songs and stories.

We see plenty of this sort of narcissism enough on social media.

Here are some quick hits.

****

We were all going to die because warming and oceans and Algore the Mighty....and then they forgot to carry the one. Or move a decimal. Whatever. We're all gonna die. By January, 2019. It's true. I saw a cult (paid protestors who need real jobs) on TV storm a buffoon's Democrat office (Pelosi) screaming something be done in the name of Gaia and then an illiterate socialist loon (Ocasio-Cortez) showed up to support them. And then left just before the cops arrived. So brave.

****

I know it's easy to ignore when it's happening to the 'other guy' but what companies like PayPal are doing is preposterous and plain wrong.

Why they feel the need to virtue signal over matters way beyond their pay grade is beyond me.

I can but protest by mocking them....and stopping to use their service.

The latest platform to be attacked by corporations is BitChute. As if it wasn't already ridiculous places like Gab were kicked off, BitChute just bring us into Orwellian territory.

There's literally - like literally - nothing wrong with BitChute.

I visit it. Largely because there's been a migration from YouTube - who themselves have accosted the creative process through their own mindless crackdowns - to these places. People always say 'if you don't like it then start your own'. And people have. But apparently this wasn't true. They don't want you to start your own. They want you to stop. Period.

Seems 'democracy' and 'freedom' has a different meaning with these corporations invested in the idiotic social justice narrative.

So by me visiting these places, will PayPal cut my account?

Assholes.

THINK a little for once.

No. You're not thinking. You're emoting and reacting.

Calgarians vote overwhelmingly against 2026 Olympic bid. I reckon this was the right call. What, with all the grifting and the grafting and the greasing and the grassing (I don't know what that means but it popped into my head).

Seems the struggling Alberta economy was a concern for citizens.

Those damn alt-right populists. How dare they ruin a good scam?

You can just smell politicians seething in anger as they reluctantly accepted the vote.

They'll have to figure out another way to get people to not vote against their interests. Mind you, these same Albertans inexplicably voted for the NDP.

Simple ideological axiom: Where there's a pot of gold, don't vote for socialists.

They'll kill the Leprechaun colony to keep it for themselves.

****

Oof. Another one of these stupid studies.

"...Anyone who’s wanted to dismiss Republican politics as straightforwardly mean now has some data to back them up. A psychology paper published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences in September found that Republicans surveyed had a small but statistically significant higher level of psychopathic traits than Democrats.
Researchers from the University of Southern Mississippi surveyed 304 American adults using Amazon’s Mechanical Turk; 85 identified as Republican, 164 as Democrat, and 55 as “other.” All those surveyed also completed TriPM, a self-report measure that uses 58 questions to evaluate the three traits that, according to the “triarchic model of psychopathy” make up the disorder: boldness, meanness, and disinhibition.
Test-takers rank how much they related to various statements like “I’ve injured people to see them in pain” and “I have conned people to get money from them” on a four-point scale of true, somewhat true, somewhat false, and false. The results score test-takers on all three traits of the triarchic model.
The researchers found that the TriPM questions evaluating boldness and meanness showed that both traits were higher in Republicans and Democrats, though there was no difference between the two groups on disinhibition. The study showed that boldness, which is evaluated by such questions as “I’m a born leader” and “I have a knack for influencing people,” had a particular high correlation with conservative economic policies, like lower taxes and decreased government spending. Meanwhile, meanness, which is evaluated by such questions as, “I don’t care much if what I do hurts others,” and “I enjoy a good physical fight,” correlated with conservative social policies, such as lack of support for social welfare, universal healthcare, and equal pay for women."

You know.

A couple of things.

The Democrats are the party of slavery, mandated segregation, internment camps, oppressive labor laws that hurt the working poor, and droning of American citizens (Hello Barry!).

But that's not psychopathy. Nope. So let's project! Ta-dah!

Let's ignore these little 'factoids' as they would put it.

The other more troubling angle is the game of demonizing your opponent (and yes - sigh - it's the left who are masters of it) is exactly how the Communists operated. It's straight out of the Red Commie play book. Don't challenge and argue the ideas; just purge the person. Let's lock 'em up! In a way, what do you think PayPal, Facebook, Twitter (and still further the faux outrage machine that claims victims by the day ie Roseanne etc.) are doing? They're not fighting a good fight, they're destroying the concept of freedom of speech and expression.

I'm also of the opinion now this is all by design.

/Lights Dale Gribble cigarette.

Speaking of high ranking Democrats who clearly got there for reasons other than being geniuses:

"This is an inflection moment, I believe, in the history of our country. This is a moment where there are powerful voices trying to sow hate and division among us. And if we’re going to deal with where we are at this inflection moment, we must speak all these truths, and one of the most significant and important truths right now is also that the vast majority of us have so much more in common than what separates us and let’s speak and own that truth, in particular, in the face of those who are trying to have us point fingers at each other and divide us. Let’s speak these truths."

Yes, the party that has members telling its cultists to go to where Republicans eat and sleep to protest them are doing about division. Again. Projection. All the time.

Other than that....inflection?

Forget it. She's on a roll.

Speaking of being in good hands with Democrats....

These are the folks who never accept election results. Notice the shenanigans in Georgia and Florida.

Gotta give it to them. They want it more.

If the GOP sit by and do nothing, what are they good for exactly?

Lest We Forget

The Progressive Left's War On Civility And Liberty

We keep hearing about 'the rise of right-wing violence" but from where I sit, all the violence, particularly since 2016, is coming from the left. Who have been constantly protesting in the streets again? Right. Those be an assortment of faux-outraged organizations including - obviously - Antifa.

Conservatives aren't running people off the roads or hounding people peacefully eating meals. They aren't the 'resisters'. They're the victims in most cases.

You have crazies like Maxine Waters telling the base to take the 'fight' to 'gas stations' and peoples homes - which they did with Tucker Carlson. Much to the glee of morally and intellectually bankrupted idiots like sociopath-cucks Matt Yglesias.

Nor do they try and steal elections like we're witnessing. Kinda magical how all these elections won by the GOP are suddenly under duress no?

When the left screams about voter fraud - it's all projection. And when they downplay it, it means they're doing it.

Which begs the question: Why isn't anyone putting a stop to this? Why are the Democrats being allowed to do what they've been doing since the Obama administration?

How are nutty is the left? They lost their minds - as a personal friend of mine from Boston did - when Jeff Sessions was appointed Attorney-General calling him a racist and socon for two years. Now they're protesting his dismissal/resignation?

These people aren't principled. They''re just immature children.

And just in case it hasn't uni in. It's not conservatives who control social media. It's the left. And they're wielding their authoritarian wand under the guise of combating 'hate'.

And just in case you don't believe there isn't a left-wing bias among celebrities check this tweet out by tough guy Ron Perlman.

Apparently, it's okay to attack gays if that gay person is conservative.

It truly is stunning. Then they wonder they're mocked by sane people with a properly calibrated moral and intellectual compass.

But Perlman not only keeps his Twitter account - because Dorsey is a cunt - but remains employed. Like Joy Reid who lied to the FBI and got to keep her job with MSNBC. Roseanne's tweet, by comparison, was taken out of context and she lost not only her show but her livelihood by the parasitical SJW brigade of assholes.

It was later discovered she sent the Tweet under the influence of Ambient. So much for tolerance and forgiveness they so often preach about, eh?

Never mind about the racism and now their new target: White women.

How dare they vote Republican! Smash the matriarchy!

It doesn't stop there. If one cares to observe, the amount of retraction and outright bull shit the press prints and broadcasts should concern everyone. Once again, it's not Fox the main culprit but so-called 'objective' outlets like the NYT. Here's a recent example from The Houston Chronicle.

It's across the board. They can't even tell the difference between journalism and activism anymore. Jim Acosta's 'first amendment rights' weren't trampled on. He was just being an asshole and The White House told him to take a hike. They didn't ban CNN who are free to replace him. It's worth noting Obama did the same thing to a Fox reported to the applause of others in the press.

No wonder I don't read a lick of that shit - except to get a laugh and read the stale comments section.

Even publications we've read for years have decidedly gone Prog.

They've also ruined comedy. Comedy for them is politicized garbage they see on Meyers or SNL. There's nothing edgy about them because they have the full backing of a corporation. Lorne Michaels should be embarrassed but hey. He has a Medal of Freedom given by Obama so he's not about to rock that boat given he's the establishment now.

There's a reason why the NPC meme is probably the most effective and powerful meme yet. It perfectly characterizes and summarizes the modern progressive left. They'll try and appropriate it of course but it won't work. It can't work. They're too uncreative. They rely too much on group think. Notice how fast they latch on to stupid idiotic talking points like popular vote. Their ignorance of how political systems is bewildering as it is preposterous.

But no matter how insipid or puerile they are, they still manage to get elected as we saw with Ocasio-Cortez. Possibly the most remedial public figure I've witness since I've begun observing politics in the 1980s. Many clowns and buffoons have come and gone but this person and her popularity is just incredible.

The bottom line is the modern progressive left control the levers of pop culture and academia.

And that's a whole lotta influence.

It's not a conspiracy. It's a fact and plain to see now. They've pretty much admitted it since 2016.

They destroy the individual and force them to bend to the collective. Identity politics is their god.

Fall Of The West Reason 944558

Do you think a Renaissance is imminent?

I'm not so sure anymore.

Check this assortment of faux-intellectuals in Europe:

Activists planned to proclaim a “European Republic” in dozens of cities at 4 p.m. (1500 GMT) Saturday, almost exactly 100 years after the end of World War I."
Yeh, the same group who supported communists and Nazis.
You do realize what they mean is they want a society ruled by them. They don't want a pure Republics. They have too much contempt for the common folk. They want a puppet republic where they govern.
These are the sort of progressives currently slowly turning Texas blue. Remember. Texas has become a popular designation for people leading states. Among them Californians. Think they'll vote what made Texas such a desirable place to live? Nope. They'll import their shitty left-wing beliefs and values. In a few years, we'll be talking about how Texas lost its way.
And we'll know why.

Americans Vote For Grid Lock And No Blue Wave

Quick take on the Midterms.

Meh. In terms of the House or Senate flipping party, this is nothing special. It certainly was not a margin of victory Democrats were hoping for.

****

Here's an example of how November 6 compares to the past regarding the House of Representatives.

House seats gained/lost followed by the year.

+9 1934 Franklin D. Roosevelt (Great Depression...duh)
+8 2002 George W. Bush (yes, you read right thanks mostly because of 9/11)

-4 1962 John F. Kennedy
-8 1990 George H. W. Bush
-9 1926 Calvin Coolidge
-
12 1970 Richard Nixon
-15 1978 Jimmy Carter
-18 1954 Dwight D Eisenhower

-22 1918 Woodrow Wilson
-26 1982 Ronald Reagan Recession
-27+ 2018 Donald Trump
-47 1966 Lyndon B. Johnson
-48 1974 Gerald Ford
-52 1930 Herbert Hoover
-54 1946 Harry S Truman
-54 1994 Bill Clinton
-57 1910 William Taft
-63 2010 Barack Obama

-77 1922 Warren Harding

Did you notice Obama? That's ugly. For a guy allegedly so hated, Trump did much better than Obama did. The irony is that a former President inserting himself in the national conversation (barely filling up arenas I hear) performed worse than the sitting President he's coyly under mining.

The insufferable surrealism of it all.

****

Still. A win is a win. The Dems have the House. People, it looks like, don't give a shit about record unemployment and high GDP rates. They vote along the lines of identity politics and this is not a good thing. Cripes, Texas almost went to the Democrats in the Senate!

Problem is they've already said, without officially naming the Speaker (likely to be a broken record, spent force in Pelosi), they're not interested in working with the President and will look to, get this, continue to investigate Russia and look into Trump's tax returns.

They've shown their bullets.

It's probably a safe bet at this point no impeachment is coming, nor is Trump going to quit - as if either of those were realistic possibilities to begin with. In fact, expect the potential of Trump winning 2020 with an even bigger mandate.

Not only will Democrats waste everyone's time with nonsense, they'll squander any chance at meaningful governance and focusing on dealing with the rising far left faction within the party. So do expect a doubling-down of 'we're all racists and Hitlers' hysterics. Look, it didn't take long for the puerile rubbish to be published in The Globe & Mail.

Oh, they called this 'obstructionism' when the GOP allegedly did it. Small difference. The GOP had complete and total control of the Senate and House and were expected to keep Obama in check. And they did. Which is why he had to resort to Executive Orders and tried to pass it off as 'binding governance' as I call it.

****

Do you notice something?

No, not the continued ignorance of pundits obsessing with popular vote which is just about the most irrelevant figure in Western politics given the nature of how we constructed our political institutions. Alas, this is not the point of the post here.

That's the sound of how responsible and sane people react to a loss. Do you see people screaming in the streets, mobilizing to 'resist', over-reacting on social media and so on?

Interesting contrast between right/conservative/libertarian/Republican supporters and the left/liberal/Democrat/progressive radical/socialist, no?

Will we be hearing GOP politicians call for people to march on people's homes to be hounded or to kick Democrats out of restaurants?

I think it's safe to say that won't happen.

****

Moving on.

So much for the 'Blue wave' or 'Blue tsunami' the media kept pretending was upon the electorate. If anything, this can be seen as disappointing for the Democrats. They threw everything and the kitchen sink and still only won a few extra measly seats.

Consider that despite two years of endless histrionics (Antifa, charges of rape and racism, obscene public displays of intolerance etc,) and a hostile press (see NBC, CBS, CNN, NYT, WaPo) any President has faced in living memory (worse than even what Reagan or Dubya faced), the constant bashing on talk shows, SNL and from celebrities, the Democrats still only managed a well below average showing in the midterms by historical standards.

That should cause some concerns among the NPC bots.

Their increases were barely in the mean for a party totally out of power in the House. Probably and arguably more important they may have lost three to five Senate seats which is a big loss given whatever they do in the House, the Senate will ignore.

That, and as someone noted in a comments thread:  "...combined with their failure to win the governorships in Florida and Georgia make it a pretty lousy night for them. It would be one thing if they had won a huge majority in the House or had at least stayed close in the Senate. But their majority in the House is going to be so small that it will be nearly impossilble to keep Democrats from swing districts from cutting deals and forming a working majority with the Republicans. That combined with the larger Senate majority ensuring that Trump will now get pretty much any appointee he wants, puts them in a pretty lousy spot all things considered."

****

More observations.

Despite Trump being Literally Hitler he allowed Americans to vote and 'save Democracy!' That's some kind of suppression, right? And where were the Russians this time?! I mean, why wouldn't they help Trump out now?

Interestingly, while it's tempting for Democrats and their fans in the media to shout for joy and claim victory, this wasn't as bad as Obama's losses in the 2010 and especially 2014 midterms (which gave the GOP absolutely control). But I'll wait for the final tally.

Another interesting tidbit was the fact four anti-Kavanaugh Democrats, including McCaskill (thanks Project Veritas! Heck, they probably took down Gillum and Beto too. Go look up those videos. Good job) lost their bids but the appalling Menendez was elected in NJ (take that Trump!) and Ocasio-Cortez - a fucking full blown socialist - won. I say that, because in all seriousness, that's one ignorant and illiterate fool to send to Congress. Good going New York. Along with California, they just love their morons to be extra-crispy moronic.

Are Americans ready for Ocasio-Cortez's Loonie-Left-wing Armada?

Stay tuned.

That's it for now.

****

I absolutely agree with this take. It's pretty much what I've been writing about since the Dubya years.

Scandal At Statistics Canada

Stats Canada is looking at banking records of Canadians without our consent.

The notion bureaucrats have access to our banking patterns while not having sufficiently explain why they need this information is Orwellian full stop.

Of course, this happened under a Liberal party where scandals are the rule and not the exception.

At the moment, privacy and free speech (Facebook data mining, NSA, Twitter and Facebook shutting down conservative voices but leaving alone violent rhetoric from the left etc.) are two huge issues North Americans have been slow to react to.

At some point, we need to sharpen our skeptic eyes and draw a line in the sand.

Alas, they already have access and control of our health so expanding to our finances is only a natural outflow of this.

But this is not a good development.

I'm glad people in the comments are a) offering thoughtful concerns and b) outraged at the preposterous notion of Stats Can begin allowed to get into our bank information.

Sure, there are the usual drones who think there's nothing to see here exhibiting their predictable NPC views. You know, the 'if you have nothing to hide' nonsense and 'this is needed to help us all improve blah, blah'. They can't seem to look beyond the standard 'it's for the greater good' slogan and understand this goes beyond that. In other words, they insist on being useful idiots for the state.

It's enough of a problem that the Chief statistician chose to step down rather than partake in this nefarious scheme.

Friday Night Music

I group up in a musical family - immediate and extended - and music was always playing in the house including my mother singing various songs. I don't know if this was one of them but it may as well be. It's funny. I wasn't crazy about those songs back then (though I recognized their merit) but now they seem to hold a different meaning and find myself enjoying and appreciating them more.

I'm no expert, but I think the lost art of the melody is something I miss. It's what made these musicians and bands (like The Beatles) so memorable and impossible to forget. I can't connect to modern music. I don't know why. It just lack something.

The other day I watched 'All things must pass: The rise and fall of Tower Records" and found myself smiling with nostalgia. While TR was a little before my time and originally a California phenomena, its influence, now I see, was immense. The idea of going to a record store to browse around and talk to the workers was a ritual I thoroughly enjoyed in the 1980s and this was thanks to TR I reckon.

My nephew rekindled my interest in music. I had stopped buying album/CDs for a while and started again. Albeit tepidly.

I've been somewhat perturbed by people like Roger Waters and bands like Steely Dan absurdly weaponizing their art for politics (which baffles me to no end) but his love of music reminded me it's best to look past their politics and just enjoy music.

I'm happy that I got to see Tower Records in NYC in 1987. I purchased 'New York' by Lou Reed. It was a CD I aimed to by leaving Montreal on my first trip to New York. I was 15.

Twitter Steps Up Shutting Conservative Accounts For Mid-Terms

But this vile, racist, piece of shit who actually preaches hate is still around.

How is Louis Farrakhan and his morally bankrupted and degenerate Nation of Islam still up?

Answer that Dorsey you ignorant and illiterate jerk off.

Americans need to send a message hard and good: Do not vote a single Democrat because doing so would signal a) violence is accepted - remember it's all projection and b) censorship is a tool that works.

If it weren't for violence and censorship, the left where would the progressive left be?

Notice also, and I will hopefully touch on this shortly, how they're purposely reworking and lying about history.

Don't be a useful idiot to these clowns.

And don't think for one minute this isn't about the mid-terms because it is.

Europe Is Lost On Liberty

First off, between the MAGA bomber and Pittsburgh Synagogue killer (may the victims rest in peace), it's time politicians and pundits truly knock it off with the politicization of everything.

My blog has made its peace where I think the blame largely lies especially since 2016.

It's time people realize these criminal acts aren't necessarily based on ideology. They use ideology as a pre-text in most cases to mask their inner demons and mental illness.

Maybe it's time people just step outside their tribal instincts and look at it from this perspective.

****

Europe is in bad shape. I mean really fucked up shape.

Apparently, defaming Mohammed isn't free speech.

But I'm sure making fun of Jesus is okay.

Never mind the troubling rise of anti-semitism on the continent.

Jews again are under attack but we're out there acting like Muslims are a victim class.

Pretty ghoulish if you ask me.

****

Don't get caught up in all that 'Trump's rhetoric' bull shit being pimped by liars like Michael Moore and musicians like Roger Waters. Why in the world he'd let his hubris weaponize his art is beyond me.

Arrogant fool.

Time To Put A Bullet In The Simpsons

I don't know what's going on with me lately but I'm really making a mess of my posts. I had to pull this one out because I had originally posted in on the wrong blog. Thinking I copy pasted the whole thing properly, I realized I only pasted half of it and could not make sense of anything.

*****

Well, the left managed to sink its sick and psychopathic teeth into The Simpsons.

One of the most beloved characters in the history of the show will be no more.

It's one thing to kill off a character as part of a natural evolution within a show's existence but this wasn't the case here.

Some asshole jerk off took offense to the 'stereotypes' depicted with Apu and it caused the usual bull shit faux-outrage angst among retarded left-wing progressives.

Just as stunning and equally troubling was Hank Azaria playing the lousy 'compassionate' card and agreeing with it.

What a damn shame this sad, sordid state of affairs.

I haven't watched The Simpsons in over 20 years mostly because it began to lose its intelligent edge in the late 90s. By the time the originals (Simon, Brooks and others) had left, it lost its 'mysterious' genius.

Now it's just a 'zombie' program probably infested by no-humor illiterates and politically correct louts.

Fuck that.

And they're full of gutless shit whoever runs that show because apparently Groundskeeper Willie and Fat Tony remain on the roster.

Scots and Italians rejoice!

Sure. Kill off Apu.

But it's also time to kill off The Simpsons.

****

They're committing one of the worst things you can do: NEVER APOLOGIZE OR GIVE INTO SHIT DISTURBING PROGRESSIVES WHO COMPLAIN.

Ever.

****

I mentioned Fat Tony. Here's the thing about ignoramuses like the guy who made the video about Apu.

He's saying a lousy, stupid animated character has the power to influence how people view a culture.

That culture being India. App > India is the equation.

In essence, a deep, rich culture that runs thousands of years is too weak to sustain the 'stereotypes' in Apu.

This is what it amounts to. Indians, in my view, shouldn't be insulted by Apu. They should be insulted by the people who claim to protect them in their name.

I don't see anything wrong in Apu. I never looked at him and concluded this is how all Indians are. Man, if we'd think like that guy, Russell Peters would have no act and we'd all be poorer for it.

In fact, as an Italian, I think Fat Tony could be perceived to be more problematic given he's, you know, a frickin mobster with little of redeeming qualities we have come to see with Apu.

But don't expect Captain Shithead (whatever his name is) to think in such a way.

It's the same beef I have with Quebec linguistic nationalists. In their search to slay dragons perceived to threaten French, they go over board from demanding English signs drop apostrophes to bemoaning English corporate trademarks entering our market. Little descriptors aren't going to protect your language. If you think this, then you have bigger problems.

Is French and its speakers that weak an entity that it feels threaten by the word 'pasta'?

Whatever.

Congratulations. He managed to pull it off.

Take a bow Groening for giving into him.

****

What do I think about Roseanne?

Along the same lines. I don't think her original tweet was particularly racist and it most certainly was overblown. What else is new? Say something and expect the howls of fake moral outrage to ensue.

Just like the weak ass hams at The Simpsons, Barr was thrown under the bus by people who owe their damn careers to her.

Worse among them being Sarah Gilbert.

It was a soft coup. They saw a chance to steal a lifetime's work from someone and they did.

It's the same crap with Papa John's board looking for a hostile take over of the company. John Schnatter is a ruthless racist who has no business running the company he built.

The interesting part in all this is the left pretends to preach about forgiveness but that's not part of their world view. They're too evil to accept forgiveness.

Nope.

They want power. And when they smell blood they want to drink it.

They will just as soon destroy a life or steal something if it means they seize control.

People like Barr and Schnatter are victims of a regressive progressive scourge that's currently ravaging civil order particularly where free speech is concerned.

Unfortunately, until power is wrestled away from the left in mediums like media, academia and Hollywood (where the vast majority of people vote left - and no they're not tolerant and objective. If you think this you need for your head to be examined) this will continue. Corporations are laggards here and will virtue signal and go woke just to toe the line because, you know, greedy capitalists and they need to stay in line.

We're on our own kids.

How bad is it?

Here you go.

Courtesy of of SQLite.

Background here.

Notice the troubling, passive aggressive nature of a SJW.

Right. Conservative 'are just as bad'.

Right.

If that doesn't send shivers down your spine...

No, It's Not 'Both Sides' Shutting Down Speech Or Destroying Property

I've grown increasingly impatient of the false equivalence we see whenever left-wing progressives behaving badly in the streets through Antifa or on campus.

Robby Soave at Reason is the king of this sort of tactic going as far as to call conservatives who dare to defend themselves on campus as 'snowflakes'.

Apparently, the second there's push back that's considered totes the same as acting like progressives on campus. Go on youtube or live leak and look up 'progressives on campus' and weep.

Now try and find the same thing from conservatives - or libertarians.

Get the picture?

It's the same thing we see now with how the media portrays non-left wing groups like Proud Boys or Jordan Peterson or even The Tea Party.

None of these groups are racist or call for violence. There are plenty of examples of Antifa committed acts of vandalism, thuggery and attacking peaceful protestors. Black Lives Matter even has the death of five police officers on their record. The list of their indiscretions is long but doesn't get the attention it deserves in the media.

I especially enjoy the contempt for The Tea Party. What was it? 500 000 people who protested and picked up after themselves, chatting with police and holding their affairs in peace? Compare that to Occupy Wall Street and the mess they left behind.

But hey. 'Both sides' do it!

No, they don't.

One side does and you know who it is.
